Recreational Drugs

What I don't get (yes, I get addiction), but what I don't get with the last poster is to wonder, why are you doing this? Meaning, why on earth go through the pain and discomfort and inconvenience and the 6 months of angst or the year or however long it is getting ready for this surgery to do something so crazy town as putting coke into a healing body. That will never be a "one time thing." Why? Cuz someone like that is in humongous denial about their present situation in life.

Why did you have this surgery? That's what you need to find. Find your why and ask yourself if doing coke at any time is going to help you succeed or reach your goal.

I had this surgery to give myself a new chance at life. I did not have it just to continue to make poor choices that can injure me or worse, enslave me. I'm not looking to transfer my food addiction. I'd rather just work recovery.

Yes overtime but im talking about just a one time thing

A straight out couple of questions for you. How many times in the past have you done cocaine? Are you already addicted? Because I can't understand why someone who wasn't would want to do this so soon after surgery, why someone would put their life on the line to get a hit so soon after life saving weight loss surgery. Please seek some help.....

One problem with doing coke is you don’t know what it’s cut with, and that could also make you sick.

I’m not a prude or even anti-recreational drugs in particular, but with this surgery I think an occasional drink if you’re not an alcoholic or an occasional toke, if it’s legal where you live and doesn’t make you ravenous are pretty much the reasonably safe options. I now get drunk from one drink, so be very careful driving.

If I remember back to the 90's. Doesn't coke give you the urge to have a big poop? That might have not been the smartest idea, in hindsight.
So my advice is to buy better quality coke! (JK!!)

Wow I had honestly forgotten about this post. Since posting my body has settled down and I'm back to having a drink and a few lines every other Saturday night. Just cos I'm skinny now doesn't mean I should have to give up on my fun times. I understand not everyone will approve of my choices but the way I see it I do it in a safe environment where I'm not harming anyone or throwing it in people's faces

One of the more common adulterants is baby laxatives.

That, I haven't heard about. I have heard of boric acid and laundry detergent.

This thread is why I don't frequent this board much. I am 10months post up and am at my goal weight. All my labs are perfect and I work out 5-7 times a week. Oh and I also do recreational drugs on occasion. Try and remember that not everyone is you and every situation is different. Doctors and surgeons are people and give what they consider best practices but are not gods. Not every one is an addict, I've had this success because because I worked the program into my lifestyle and didn't make the surgery my religion.

Well first of all have you had any kind of surgery yet?? If you did then you were very careless in your health and towards your weight loss surgery. Clearly they tell you what you can and can’t do - Wtf????
Very stupid thing to do- don’t blame anyone but your dumb self

I'm not a prankster... jeesh I think I'll not ask for advice again
Don't let one Mean Girl turn you away from asking advice here. Most of us on this platform are nice people; it's a shame that the first one you encountered just happened not to be.

Lots of people do cocaine and don't get addicted. You should seek some help for passing misinformation, Nancy Reagan.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
