January 2nd will be my 2 year surgiversary. For almost a year now I have been having pain under my left rib. My primary doctor thought it was a dislocated rib and told me it would take a few months to heal. After six months still hurt, told give it more time. Now it’s been a year, the pain is now every day, and radiates to my left shoulder. My primary finally had a CT ran, during the CT the radiologist asked me if I had had some kind of surgery because it looked like I swallowed a bracelet! It was my sleeve that he was referring to! It was then that I thought maybe it’s my sleeve causing me this pain, I don’t know why I never though about it being that, I guess I just trusted my primary. The CT report was normal, but not really sure I have a lot of confidence in that radiologist. I tried to get an appointment with my surgeon, but could only get a phone appointment. Has anyone else experienced this after this amount of time? Any ideas what it might be?

YES. I saw this post a while ago but i was at work and could not log in to reply to you.

I have the same pain, it's right near where the rib cage is on my left side. I work in the medical field and asked my co-workers about this and they poked and prodded around the area. When they push down really hard and let go they asked if there was any bounce back pain and there isn't. It seems to be on the surface area for me. They all advised me it's most likely nerves growing back after the surgery. I have a scare from the surgery near where the pain is. Just remember surgery isn't always a delicate thing. They are not gentle when you are out cold and they are poking and prodding surgical tools inside our stomach region. I'd never tell you not to get it checked out but chances are you are fine and i'm not too worried at all about my left rib area pain anymore. It comes and goes. No biggie.

A Bracelet? as in your sleeve is curved that much? that doesn't sound normal. should be more crescent shaped

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
