Scheduled for Rny surgery on the 15th! Terrified and excited at the same time! Does anyone have some suggestions for 7 days full Fluid diet pre op? I live in Botswana so we don't have everything here though. Tx

Hasn’t your Dr recommended any products that you should be using?

Most programmes require a Meal Replacement shake diet. The fave in Aus is Optifast but there are lots of others that may fit the bill. Priceline ( which is the Aussie equivalent of Clicks) has an own brand product called Celebrity slim, I imagine that would be available there as Clicks is a South african company.

Other items are sugar free jelly, stock cubes e.g oxo etc

I would call your Dr’s office to clarify, it is ultra important that you know what you will be allowed in the liquid phase after surgery even more than the preop phase.

I am having my RNY on 17th, 2 days after you.

my surgeon said no more than 100g of Protein per day from the shakes.. so the lower the protein content the more you can have pre op. I had up to 6 shakes a day but my shakes only had 10g of protein which allowed me up to 6. I never drank all 6 because i had chicken broth for lunch and dinner to break it up some, but also was drinking Decaf coffee and liquid shakes and water.. I was full the entire 2 weeks.

Thanks very much! I'll look out for celebrity slim. I have the broths and sugar free jelly already. Just wasn't sure what product names i should look for! Will get in touch with the dietician as soon as they open on monday[emoji3]. I am meant to do 4 days full fluids from the 8th and 3 days clear fluids from the 12th.

So excited! Was hopefully my last obese new years! Good luck with yours

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
