Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Glad it is treatable!

So I have a rather superficial gripe. Now that I can shop in normie stores, why the heck have the changed how ladies jeans are sized? Why the heck would I want to go from wearing a plus size 28 to a regular size 33 jean (actually- not sure if that’s the size I should be because I have no reference point for these hip sizing methods!) On that note- still too fat for jeans at some places. Not sure why it seemed stores went to 16 in basically everything but jeans (the largest size I found in most stores
was a 32, which google tells me equates to about a size 12).

Wait, so now they are sized by waist and inseam like men's jeans? Weird...

Some stores do. J Crew and banana Republic both sizes them that way. Pants were still listed in ladies sizes, but the jeans were like men’s.

The fun thing was (aside from the Jean dilemma) that I basically could fit in clothes wherever we went, which is pretty neat for someone who at one point was getting close to being too big for the plus size shops and had to do most of my shopping online. 😁

Well, I'm all hygenically-showered and dressed. Waiting to head to the hospital in an hour or so. Wish I could have a cup of tea!

Sizing drives me crazy too!! My advice is to find a brand of jeans you like and find out what size fits you well and stay with that brand. For me it is Seven7 which I started buying at Lane Bryant in an 18W and can now buy at regular stores or even online in a regular 14 which is a 33 per their size chart. I scored a brand new pair at a thrift shop last week for $10 which is amazing since they generally are $70 to $80. Did not even need to try them on since this brand always fits my body very well. They are good quality and do not look like "mom/old lady" jeans.

Silly Kitty - Looking FABULOUS!!!! I could really relate to your post Friday AND also discovering nuances about how I felt at 258 pounds vs. how I'm feeling today at 212. You are an inspiration to me... I am definitely height challenged at 5 feet (haha) but do wish to be 128 one day arriving at a healthy BMI. Slim not just slightly overweight if you know what I mean. I had adjusted to just being obese never really effecting my successful career or personal life. Or did it!? I am sure things will begin to reveal themselves to my trance? I turn 60 May 29th - celebrating a new birth, so to speak. Greetings from Palm Beach to CA. Love the support + encouragement from you, Fluffy Chix, GreenTealael and other legends... as December 2018 sleevers. We're just babes in the woods! ;]

I just wanted to share how absolutely ecstatic I am to have had this surgery. :)

I was never deeply unhappy with my weight pre-surgery. I mean, I wanted to be thinner, but lived a happy, successful, fulfilling life. For the most part it was the little things that annoyed me about being overweight, not being able to wear cute clothes, feeling self conscience when I order a non-salad at a restaurant, etc.. The only time my weight truly bothered me was while vacationing. I hated not getting the most out of my travel, and holding my friends back with the physical limitations my weight entailed.

I just returned from a fantastic vacation, and it occurred to me how dramatically happier my weight loss has made me. I didn't have any thoughts at the back of my head about being the "fat American". I walked for miles and miles everyday and it didn't phase me a bit, no foot pain, no exhaustion, nothing. I was the one suggesting to walk vs. take an Uber.

Thinking about it also made me realize how having all those negative thoughts about my weight being gone from inside my head has improved my daily life as well. I don't feel guilty when I sit next to someone in an airplane. I don't have to switch to flats as soon as possible after a meeting. I can wear pencil skirts and sheath dresses. When I see a stranger looking at me, I now assume it's for a good reason, not because my size makes me stand out. I no longer snore, and don't feel self conscience sleeping with my bf. Sooo many little things that really add up!

Girl! How'd I miss your thread? :( What a fantastic post!!! I'm so thrilled to hear about your vacation and how much better your experience was this time!!! Wooot! That's what it's all about. Right?!!! Isn't it awesome to be the Energizer Bunny and be able to walk and walk and walk without exhaustion or pain?!!! So happy you're sleeping better and no longer have pain from CFM shoes! ;) hehehe

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
