Any seniors over 65 sleevers ?

Recommended Posts

I am over 65 yrs young and was wondering if getting sleeved helped your general health? Or was it too hard at our age?

Nothing is too hard for us, we can do all they can do, we just have to take a break and the middle. And they are made out of plastic parts, they snap quickly, we were made of tempered steel, they made things strong and successful in the 40s and 50s. We are like the 9is Timex commercial, We take a licking and keep on ticking! Slow, smooth and steady has always beaten a "Flash in the Pan". You are doing this for You, not a spur of the moment decision, You do this with your eyes open for this is WHAT you really want.
We can't repair the damage Time has done to us but we will live vibrantly with all our time left. And we shall show them what REAL CLASS looks like!
It's fair to say my recovery has not without thorns but the bouquet of Beautiful pastel 💐Roses, it's so so worth it all and I would never look back at the chaos of my past life when my bright future lies ahead!😛👋😛

Actually, we can!

I'm 65 and was sleeved 5 months ago...best decision EVER!! Have lost 73# so far, diabetes is gone and sleep apnea gone! I feel like I'm 30....have so much energy and no back and leg pain anymore. You're definitely not too old and better health will make the senior years so much more enjoyable.

And we seem to get more and more of generation seeking the surgeries they have denied themselves for years and years. It literally is our own time to sparkle and shine🌞🌈!

My husband had his sleeve done at 65+ he hasn’t skipped a beat he was back to his regular daily routine with the exception of lifting or straining here on the little sheep ranch within a week. He turned 70 In July and is turning an old tractor barn into a beautiful guest Bunkhouse. He says next to our marriage it is the best thing he ever did

I am 67 and scheduled to have surgery on Jan 16. Anyone else over 65 having surgery in Jan?

Been thinking about this for awhile and think I am ready for change for good in this weight struggle.

61 and had sleeve September 2018. I was up the day of the surgery and drove from Las Vegas to Phoenix 5 days later because I was told I could not fly postop. Biggest problem has been irritability and anger issues, but I am getting better with self control.

And at 73, as I said in another post, I got em too! But we will get through this all with Baby Boom Power and Grace! And you always got me to talk to, if needed.😝🌈😛

Had surgery Wed,yesterday pretty rough, better today I think except got bad headache. Nausea not as bad, trying hard with liquids today. Am very tired but slept very little in hospital. Walked a lot trying to get rid of gas. Dr. Hanna and North Vista treated me like a queen. Encouraged my husband to stay, brought him meals, had a bed for him by mine. I could not have been treated better. Sent me home with samples, get well card signed by my nurses and bear to hold while coughing. Hospital said they would call and check on me today.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
