Chuck Clasik 141 Posted December 30, 2018 As I continue on in my post op phases, it’s crazy to me how different the plans are for the phases. Like I’m day 19 post op and doing the blended purée phase that lasts two weeks. I see some folks, same timeline, already on to soft foods. Some things that folks are allowed to eat, I’m told to never eat again. I figured there would be more standardization in this. Boy was I wrong!! 9 Bahjee, Wanda247, FancyChristine15 and 6 others reacted to this
AggiG 176 Posted December 30, 2018 (edited) I'm not sure when my pureed phase will end. I don't see my surgeon until March. I was sleeved December 11, 2018 Edited December 30, 2018 by AggiG 1 1 Frustr8 and Wombatpringle reacted to this

I was sleeved December 11, 2018 Mine ends on the 7th, though I have to see my surgeon again on the 8th before cleared for soft food phase which is two weeks long, I think!! As there is no timeline for that phase. So I’m assuming until cleared for solids. Good luck!! 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

Wanda247 908 Posted December 30, 2018 It’s so true! It depends on the surgeon and I think what he/she is comfortable with...I was given a booklet at the beginning of my process but after surgery and my first post-op appointment which was six days after surgery I was told after 10 days I could start on soft foods based on how I was doing and tolerating shakes with no problem...we just have to go with what our team suggests for us...i was so happy to get off of shakes lol. 1 1 rs and Frustr8 reacted to this
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted December 30, 2018 Not only are the phases vastly different, but so are the post-op diets. Some surgeons are all high-protein, low carb, others want more of a balance with protein/carbs, etc. 5 Wanda247, sillykitty, Frustr8 and 2 others reacted to this
Ed_NW 684 Posted December 30, 2018 My surgeon has 4 stages two weeks each then regular food unless there is a problem transitioning to the next stage. I told the Nut that I go online and read other people's plans and she didn't care for that too much LOL. I guess that causes people to stray from their own plan. 3 2 Orchids&Dragons, Wanda247, Acoleman529 and 2 others reacted to this
Myhorseisfattoo 387 Posted December 30, 2018 It is interesting... I was one week full liquids, then 2 weeks on purees. Now on Wednesday I can start softies until 10 weeks at which point I can go for it!
sillykitty 10,776 Posted December 31, 2018 So many different plans, I agree. But the good news is, many people on here with vastly different plans have all found success! 4 FancyChristine15, Wanda247, Healthy_life and 1 other reacted to this
FancyChristine15 810 Posted December 31, 2018 You're totally right. I see so many different plan variations on this site. I had to do liquids for 2 weeks, then pureed for 2 weeks, then soft for a month, i think, then I went on to regular foods. I've never been told that I can never eat anything again though. 2 Healthy_life and Wanda247 reacted to this
Laner 39 Posted December 31, 2018 Mine was Clear Liquids first week, full liquids 2nd week, now I'm on soft foods for the 3rd week. Next week I get to continue soft and add things like chicken salad and tuna salad. After that, I'm trusted with slowly introducing whatever else into my diet. Nothing is off limits from my surgeon, just avoid lots of sugars, which is easy because now that my body has cleansed, sugar gives me a hangover.Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
JMann62 18 Posted January 1, 2019 My plan was clear liquids for Days 1-2, full liquids Days 3-7, soft foods Weeks 2-3, then normal diet from Week 4 onward. Compared to other plans I've seen, mine seemed to be rather aggressive. 1 Wanda247 reacted to this
dawnam 14 Posted January 1, 2019 My plan was not a darned thing day of surgery, day 1 clear, day 2 through 14 puree, I was advanced a couple days early because I was doing really well though. I've been on soft for two weeks now, I'm due to be on full diet in two weeks. The only things I am "never" supposed to eat again are fried foods and super sugary things. Also no caffeine or alcohol. 1 Jean9 reacted to this

Embee123 9 Posted January 1, 2019 This blows my mind. I am going bonkers now just starting phase two, soft purées. I miss food with a crunch. Just today I was able to eat tuna fish. It’s been so hard Here is the link to everything my doctor allows and when. He also has some “never agains” like soda, citrus fruits, etc. http://www.sphp.com/workfiles/brochures/bariatric-diet-after-weight-loss-booklet-web.pdf 1 KayC12019 reacted to this
