Ok, here's 1st Brekky, 2nd Brekky, and mid-morning matcha break! Will be back later today with more "riveting" food action!

Protein Latte

The food as it was served to me. Holy crap--alotta food!

My portion after I gave 1/2 or more of it away and traded for some avocado!

Mid-morning matcha break (cheers @GreenTealael)--hey, why does your's look so much greener/prettier? Mine is a greenish brown powder (organic from Vitacost).

YUM! Tell us about your chili!
Actually it was pretty nom. So I try and put extra veg in, whatever I've got but today I used this:

Ingredients=
3 tsp oil
1 large onion, diced
2 carrots
3 cloves garlic
1 capsicum, cut into chunks
3/4 cup of chicken stock (I make my own when I cook a chook)
600 gms mushrooms, sliced into chunks
500 gms ground beef
2 cans chopped tomatoes
2 cans kidney beans
1 tbsp sugar alternative eg Candarella
2 tbsp Spice Mix or to taste

Spice Mix=
Salt & pepper
Ground cumin
Paprika
Cayenne pepper
Oregano
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Seasoning salt

(I usually make a jar of this up and keep it in the fridge)

Method=
1. Heat the oil. In a pot and then brown the onions
2. In a blender, pulse the carrots and garlic, then add that to the browned onions. You want to caramalise the carrots until you get sticky bits on the bottom of the pot.
3. Add the capsicum pieces and sweat them down a little, scraping all the sticky bits off the bottom of the pan (they're packed with flavour).
4. Add the chicken stock.
5. In a separate flat pan, brown the ground beef so that any fat cooks off or drain off any extra fat.
6. Add the meat and rest of the ingredients to the pot with the liquid from the canned kidney Beans and a bit of extra Water if you need to.
7. Bring to a boil then simmer on a lower heat for at least 40 mins, making sure to stir every now and again.

So, that's my chilli recipe. The guac I make by just chopping up some red onion, avocado, a Tomato, salt and pepper, a little bit of lemon or lime juice and a couple of tbsp of light cream cheese (or nonfat yoghurt), smushing it all up in the bowl.

Oh yeah, I tried to figure out the calories. If you divide it into 6 large portions it's 305 cals a serving. But I eat half of that.

January 17th! So today's meals in photos also coincides with my 3 month surgiversary! My dr said I was ahead of where I should be, but I need to eat more. Since I track everything he wants me to try eating every 2-3 hours. He was happy I'm averaging around 30g of carbs a day.

So...for meals in photos, today, I had 1 oz of mixed nuts and an ounce of colby jack cheese for "lunch" at 4 am. Perks of the night shift? I just now ate dinner of homemade sloppy Joe's and rice. I started with 5.7 oz, and had 3.6 left in the bowl by time I was comfortably full. Eating is hard, being motivated to eat is hard, going 14 hours between meals and forgetting to eat is apparently easy lol. 20190116_222229~2.jpeg 20190117_182104.jpeg Screenshot_20190117-183551_MyFitnessPal~2.jpeg

Update:

Not featured: yogurt, chicken & chocolate chip Cookies a friend made for me.

(More tea, hot chocolate, coffee & water)

The Cookies: they were not Protein variety lol so *technically* I'm still on plan, but it's more about me not being a DB when visiting people who go out of their way with hospitality. I'll survive if I have a cookie, especially after walking 2 miles to see them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
