❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Jan. 26th:

How I eat out:

Usually I stick with coffee, tea or Water if there isn't anything I can have, or I already ate. I also try to carry a Protein candy bar around. I love grabbing something from a market way more than a restaurant. But during my Don't be DB 2019 Campaign, i practice flexibility while maintaining *some* control. Behold, Diner food w/my Ex...

you know he paid, in more ways than one, and all the left overs were his 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

When eating out I try to plan ahead and know what I'm eating before I get there. Earlier this week I promised my oldest a special mom hang out day. She wanted to eat at a biscuit sandwich place. Not ideal but Im glad I went with the flow. She really enjoyed hers and had my leftovers for lunch/dinner. I ate 2-3 bites of the chicken from inside and a swipe of the gravy. Yes, that's a homemade pop tart in the background which I did not touch. I'm so thankful for this surgery-wasnt even tempted!

The stir fry is much more representative of how I eat out. (That's the after pic by the way)

Eating out? I try to stick to an omelette, fish, chicken. Honestly I can count on one hand how many times I’ve gone out to eat since surgery. Seems like a total waste of money now

Exactly! It's not good value [emoji24] so unless it's a special occasion or for the meeting peeps, I don't much see the point.

Yeah, I don't do hats either--NYer thing perhaps? [emoji6]
Wearing a hat isn't a thing outside of NY? How do you guys keep your head warm?! I am so lost!

It's just like Game of Thrones - if you've got great hair, you can't risk hat head!

This is essentially me for day 26 as well! I normally stick to just ordering a side, like an egg and sausage. Way cheaper and I can usually finish it since it's maybe 2 oz! There are some places that offer a side of grilled fish too, so maybe 4 oz, I never finish but at least I don't feel like I'm wasting money

Day 27- current struggle? Getting enough calories and keeping up my sodium. I ended up in the ED after getting dizzy, lightheaded, and collapsing at work. Once again my sodium had tanked. Got some fluids and electrolytes and went back to work. This is a struggle I hate, it's dangerous and difficult to keep up, as propel or Gatorade makes me bloat so bad. and I don't use salt when I cook

Jan. 27th:

Current struggle- lazy with food again, I'd rather eat yogurt than prep anything else for myself unless it was made in bulk and needs to be finished.

People around me are starting to notice (asking what I ate for the day) and it's making me super self-conscious trying to explain that I ate yogurt for 3 meals in a row but it was perfectly acceptable 😓.

Gotta get it together GTL, Quick before someone accuses me of orthorexia...

Is there any chance of a February challenge? I missed the boat on this one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
