My proudest 2018 moment? Well It was when I was rolling into the Operation Room at OSU at a couple minutes past 7 on My Wonder Wednesday September 5th 2018. I had been through so much in the 3 years I had been seeking surgery, the ups, the downs, the promises that turned into lies from Surgeon #1.The people who told me I was too old, that I was unworthy, that I never would pass my pre-surgical specialist consults, that I would never find a surgeon willing to even touch a 72 year person. I had my revenge by being commited and successful in all things that mattered. If I hadn't been lying down and with a little Happy happy Joy juice my anesthesiologist Dave had slipped into my IV already, I would have stood up, gone into a chorus of We are The Champions, and put my arms over my head like a prize-fighter! And there was my Dr Needleman , waving from my left like he promised, and the rightness of it all , almost made me cry. But there were no tears, no fears, no last second qualms, I was where I was meant to be and from that moment on, my new life began.

Clichéd but my greatest support is my hubby. He's never known me as anything other than morbidly obese. He met and married me when I was around 125kgs, and has been there for me even when I grew to 153.5kgs. He's supported me through a failed lapband and when I raised the possibility of revising to bypass he didn't hesitate to say yes even if it meant we'd have to self-pay (still waiting to hear back from the HSE for a reimbursement, bureaucracy *sigh*). He's encouraged me at every kilo lost and joined me walking every evening. He's the kindest, gentlest, funniest, smartest, handsomist person I've ever known and twenty years after we married I still love him to bits, alhamdulillah.

There are only 4 words in a relationship that means more than I Love You and they are " I'm here for you". Don't you wish you could go back in time? Then you would have more time to know and love him. You are an incredibly blessed woman.

Well neither of these are gonna stop a clock from running so if they resemble these proxies, they are pretty pleasant to gaze on.

Lol ummmm 😓 my kids are classified as my employees (jokingly at first) during the summer months for cleaning around the house, they receive payment by job description... I've seriously considered starting a real cleaning business they would run... But you know... Child labor laws...

My husband is absolutely my greatest support . You don’t have to be on this website for long to know that’s not always a given. I am truly lucky to have someone by my side every day who not only encourages me but is putting in the work with me. He has officially lost 75 lbs since *I* started this process because he eats well and exercises like I do.

But an important thing I’ve learned here is that I don’t NEED his support to do this. I can do it on my own with the support of people here, in-person support groups and my own determination and resiliency. Having him on my team is just icing on the cake!

@ummyasmin not a cliché, we are lucky!

I know. I thank God. I'm very lucky. We met on the Internet back in the days of dialup LOL. So Internet romances can work out.

Day 21! My biggest support?

My SO David is hands down my biggest supporter. We met online through a dating site, and just clicked, now we are going on year 4. He was with me after I had lost a lot of weight because of my gallbladder. He stayed when I gain a lot of weight thanks to my thyroid and other medical issues. I have had 3 surgeries in these 3 years and he was there holding my hand throughout it all. His favorite line to tell me is "I love you is a 6 word phrase. I love you... no matter what." And he has. He supported me getting back into running and bought me new running shoes. He supported me wanting to hike 52 hikes this year, one every week, and has gone with me through mud, hills, and being "out of shape" himself. My brother and momma are a close second, but this man... he lifts me up and shows me his love constantly. Meeting online CAN work, we love each others souls and no matter what holds firm!

Day 22: Music

I've fallen off the challenge wagon. I still follow all rules religiously but I haven't felt like doing anything lately. Going into one of my moods again. I do want to be here for this one. If anyone has seen other posts of mine music is everything for me. My mom had playlist going when I was born. I had one going when I died. I have one going full of my desire to live. This song is the first on the list:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
