2 weeks post op - sharp shooting pain

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I had my vsg on December 10th.

The pain has sucked, but over the past 3 days or so the pain is located only in one spot. It's in my lower right belly. It comes and goes depending on my movement and type of of movement and it's a sharp shooting pain. It starts about 2 inches below my largest incision and shoots down and to the right.

This pain is more unbearable than the original post surgery pain was.

Any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance!

Bobbie

Yeah... i might have an answer for you... this is where they took your tummie out of your body, and when I was talking to my pa today... i expalined that i had the same sharp pain... that you just described... and it' also where they possibly did a stitch ... and yes it will hurt for a while... they told me to take continue with the tylenol. hope this helps.

Usually the lower left incision is painful for sleevers, lower right for bypass, that said if your surgeon was left-handed or learned by standing across the table, all bets are off. I swear some surgeons double stitch everything for safety purposes, don't want any inner herniation. But we all heal and get better. Didn't get this size in one day, so you'll probably heal in increments instead of one miraculous swoosh.😝❤😝

It could very well be from the surgery but I would have your surgeon check you. It could be appendicitis

I have the left-sided pain and it hurts like a mother-trucker! I can barely bend over and rolling over in bed causes me to cry out. I'm pretty tough when it comes to pain - this is labor-level pain. It only lasts for a minute or two, but holy WOW!!!

However, I am thinner and I prefer to focus on that!!!! 😎

I am having same horrible pain but it is like a burning pain! When I lay down or sit still I am fine. But as soon as I move to get up or walk it is HORRIBLE! Takes my breath away. I saw my doctor this past Friday and he said it is normal. It is from stretching, pulling, cutting muscles etc. I am just curious how long it will last. It is making me super crabby and unhappy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
