Ed_NW 684 Posted December 24, 2018 This gas they filled me with is crazy! I'm a week PO and every day I feel like I'm eating a huge bowl of Beans and paying the price. I think maybe it has tapered off but then BAM! it's back with a vengeance. I might have to get the gas-x but I've been told that it just has to work it's way out. Is that right? toodlerue 452 Posted December 24, 2018 Seems like I lived on GasX & nausea pills for the 1st 2 months! 1 Ed_NW reacted to this
FaithandHope 53 Posted December 24, 2018 I had the same problem. It was terrible. In the hospital the Surgeon order a suppository for me. It did help. I was also told to lay on my left side as much as tolerable. It is the path of least resistance for the gas to escape. I also took a dissolvable gas pill several times a day they tasted like mint so it was a treat It does get better, this too shall pass Literally. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
AutumnG 26 Posted December 24, 2018 Had my sleeve done on the same day, and GasX is the best thing ever. Also, walking around the house has helped a lot as well. Good luck!-AtA
Briswife15 890 Posted December 25, 2018 Can someone explain to me why GasX helps, when the gas is actually pumped into your abdominal cavity, and not into your intestines? :-)Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
TaeRenee 26 Posted December 25, 2018 The gas-x has helped me as well as walking. I am PO sleeve day 5. I'm still gassy, but not nearly as much as I was that 1st day Jesus! And dr8nking slow sips of liquids help move it and hot showers, believe it or not.Sent from my SM-G930VL using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
dathvick 150 Posted December 25, 2018 Are you having regular bowel movements? I noticed when I get constipated I tend to have a lot more gas. Constipation is a real problem after the RNY surgery so make sure you are aware of any issues before they get too severe. 2 Frustr8 and KimTriesRNY reacted to this
Trix1017 33 Posted December 25, 2018 I had my bypass 12/17 too. It’s better now but was brutal for a good 6 days. Walking definitely helped and I wish I’d walked more sooner. I was given a prescription for liquid colase, if needed, so I may bring that into the mix if this lasts another day or two.
mousecat88 2,281 Posted December 28, 2018 I had zero gas pain post-op because my surgeon said he spent a good amount of time sucking it all back out. lol. But everyone says GasX helps. I don't understand why it would help, but I think they have dissolvable tabs you can take.
