Agreed with Margo! Each day gets easier. When it feels overwhelming, just remember that it's DOWNHILL from here on out. A few months from now you're going to look back and see the road you traveled and the progress you made, and feel a huge sense of achievement. You are one day closer to healthy ❤️

Like the ladies said. Keep walking. The gas pains go away completely by 2 weeks. I think mine was a little over a week. I do not recall now. Focus on what you and walking, and drinking your liquids and you will get to being healed faster.

This OP could have been written by me. I had gastric bypass surgery on December 19, and I'm still in pain. Or severe discomfort. I cant tell if its gas, pain from the manipulation (some larger bruising on my right side) or if this is my new hunger pain. Or a bit of everything all mixed together. Right now it feels like I have a tight giant rubber band around my midsection. I'm trying to walk around the house, but I still feel tired pretty quickly.

I keep a water bottle by me at all times, and can only comfortably take in 1/4 cup of food at a time. I know I'm not getting nearly enough Protein. It's my current struggle. Well, that and making sure I dont dehydrate.

I am however, completely and thoroughly sick of cream Soups made with milk and strained. Tomorrow I'm getting some pre made Protein Shakes just to shake things up. Pun intended.

I was having severe buyers remorse yesterday, but I've been talking with some friends who went through it and am trying to keep in mind that 2 weeks will suck, but then it will get better.

Ugh!

Today going to try my slim fast and pure Protein Shakes but I have trouble doing more than 2 oz every 15 min. I too am still very sore in the midsection , but walked 10k steps yesterday and gas/bloating much better . Burning a hole in my parents carpets wandering around the house ! LOL

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
