Loving Life Again

Recommended Posts

I’ve noticed a bit of a morbid trend in the forums lately and wanted to pipe up. This decision is the best decision I have ever made for myself. I am happier in my own skin in a way I can’t remember ever being. I’ve lost about 125lb minimum since thanksgiving 2017 (too ashamed to step on a scale but easily over 300lbs). Now I’m 7 months out and god even at the most painful point in my recovery did I doubt my decision. This changed my life. I will forever be grateful I had the strength to go through with it.

So newbies and pre-surgers.... make the decision if it’s right for you and don’t let fear dictate your choice!

Positive Things at 4 AM
I am warm
I am safe and loved
I have the freedom to be what I can want to be, even when it seems difficult
Although I am having gastrointestinal difficulties, until they resolve I can receive my nourishment through my PICC line and TPN
I haven't thrown up since yesterday so today can be a better day
So no matter how this Saturday in. December finds me, I am still alive and grateful to Ohio State University, Bradley J Needleman MD and Bariatric Medicine for a future.
And I am grateful to my RnY surgery, even with its flaws , it has been my third best tool, behind commitment & Belief in ME for success out of sorrow!
SO I AM TRULY A VERY BLESSED 73 YEAR PERSON WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE!😛❤🍀

You look great! Congratulations.

I think if people just take the time to read the post from ones with success stories, the struggles, things not to do, things that will help like getting in Protein and Water, changing their diet to a healthy one etc. it could really benefit them instead of panicking and freaking out and quickly posting that they are failing so early on without giving their tool a chance and following their plan.

I’ve learned so much from you all on here and one big thing is not to overreact and to do my part and my tool will work and it is working...but again I feel like a lot of people getting surgery unfortunately think that this is a magical procedure and once they have surgery then POOF the Weight will drop everyday without putting in the work and I also notice a lot of comparing which is never good...just my thoughts.

Thanks for your positive post and showing that there is no need to freak out, you followed your plan and got excellent results 🤩 bottom line!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
