They told me don't lose between now and my 2/14 appointment although they said with the nutrition it would be hard not to but try. My nutrition is fasts tracked I have an appointment 1/10, 1/14 and 2/11. I was told I need 3 appointments but they don't have to be a month apart for my insurance (Independence BC).

Thanks for the heads up on the Soups. I'll stick to the bars and puddings. I'm not too much of a Soup girl except creams... I'll do broth if I have to though.

My Dr was very strict no Bars or pudding first 2 Weeks .I did a few Years of research 90 % of the Surgeons keep diet liquids first 2 Weeks some permit Jello , puddings .I read recently that someone was allowed heavier food right after Surgery good luck with that !!! All I can say good way to rupture your sutures.

I’m about 41 BMI
Maybe what they meant then, was to focus on the new food plan and reteaching yourself to eat and not to focus on losing weight. Naturally it’s going to happen during the pre op stage. Maybe they just meant not to having a weight loss be your main goal

My BMI was 40 which was my insurance cut off, so I was told not to GAIN but not to worry about losing. I had a previously documented 80 lb. loss on Phentermine, so everyone knew I could lose.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
