Had my surgery 2 days ago. Alls well if feeling like I was hit by a truck counts..lol..seriously I'm doing better since my Dr allowed me to have a Protein Shake today. 1 ounce at a time.
Soo my concern is..IM HUNGRY.. granted I hadnt eaten anything since Sunday. Anyone else??
I'm 14 days post OP today and am hungry most of the time. I wonder if it is "muscle memory" so to speak. I'm still very sore but hoping to turn a corner soon. Stay hydrated!

Well, I had my post op today and got approval to move in to the purée stage. I haven’t had any issues with eating anything so far (blended creamy Soups, thinned mashed potatoes) so I was super excited about having a scrambled egg. I chewed until hardly anything was left in my mouth. Lol About 2 mins after I finished, my mouth started watering and I felt nauseous. I went to the bathroom and did “throw up” but no eggs came out. Lol!! It wasn’t a dry heave though (sorry if this is TMI), it was honestly as if I was throwing up a lot of air that needed to get out? That’s it. And a little saliva. But no egg. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think I will be having another one anytime soon, but glad it stayed down. lol

I know what you mean. I can’t eat a whole scrambled mushed up egg. I can only eat about 1/2, and that is hard to do. I have realized I sit and eat like o used too and that typically will make me feel really sick. I got kinda sad today, I know this is all temporary, but it’s a lot harder than I thought not being able to eat 1/2 of an egg like I used to.. I don’t eat like I used to period. I never realized how much eating consumed me and my life. I had a little mourning today in realization that my life is forever changed. Don’t get me wrong. I know this is a good thing for me, I know this is going to change and has changed my life for the better. I just guess I didn’t realize how drastically it was gonna change. It’s all settling in now.

I am learning to eat much much slower when I eat my 1-2 oz of purée food. Learning to try to enjoy the small bites as I get them. I am not eating much purée, only once today. Anyway, tomorrow is a new day and I’m sure this is all normal or apart of the process.

Glad you all are here to share with. 💕

I understand that. I am just now going to bed. I was tempted to eat something before I went to bed but resisted. This is hard stuff. It’s a lot harder than I imagined. I’m sore and feel like I pulled a muscle in my stomach. Anyway , Hang in there!!

I started pureed today. I tried chicken noodle Soup. The texture is not doing it for me but I ate 3.8 ounces then started burping which is my sign that I am full. Apple sauce was better but could only 2.5 ounces. Nutritionist said many just stay on thicker liquids until soft food stage...I might follow suit.

Day one post op... feel like death. Gas pain is real. I threw up this morning but managed to not throw up after my xray. They are keeping me an extra night since I’m not meeting their post op goals.

Hang in there! They ended keeping me two nights. Lol I was ready to go home after the first night but then all of the sudden couldn’t keep Water down. I agree about the gas pain. That honestly was the worst for me! It’s a process. Don’t rush your body, but do follow their suggestions on walking, etc. That will help get rid of the gas. Hang in there! 💕

I'm a little over a week from my sleeve surgery. I was instructed to consume 48-64ozs of clear liquid (water or sugarless drink) and 69ozs of Protein in the form of shakes or protein powder in a drink. I stay full!! It's hard to drink all that!!
How are drinking that much Fluid a day? The max I was told to drink was 1 ounce every 15 minutes and work up to 2 ounces per 15 minutes.

How did it go? How are you feeling? I'm 4 days post-op. Such a huge change!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
