March 2019 sleepers

Recommended Posts

Just found this forum. Sleeved March 26th and doing well. Down 30 and excited about the pureed diet.

I'm staying hydrated which has always been a habit since I live at 9000ft altitude. I'm getting in my walking too.

No more diabetes meds/insulin. That was my biggest goal and this has me over the moon!

Slightly concerned about remaining food cravings, but I'm doing pretty good trying to ignore them.

Me <---- Blessed

Othella, I was big and have a great deal of muscle mass. I'm also being very strict about the diet and exercise (like you probably are as well) and I also am no longer diabetic. All these things are probably helping and I think 20 pounds is just the first of many 20 pound drops for you!

Forreal!! I’m a month post op and have been stuck at 26 pounds lost for 2 weeks.
I’ve been having a really hard time getting any food down. Beans, eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, I guess my sleeve doesn’t “like” any of it? Can’t really eat without feeling sick.
Anyone else having a hard time getting “real food” down?

I am also a month post op, stuck at 24 pounds, and struggling to eat! I can get it down, but I have to lay down after because I just feel so uncomfortable. Or I end up just throwing it back up! Certain things I’ve done well with but I find myself super uncomfortable more often then not

Sunshine, since I'm just starting the pureed phase I can't offer any advice. However, I am interested in how you will resolve this and am rooting for you. Let us know what works, because you will get past this!

I'm not sure about the beans. I'm going to try it again tonight that way I know for sure. Are you eating to much?? I think I did yesterday that's why I felt sick. So today I did 2 oz instead of 4.

I can barely get two small bites down of anything. :( After that it’s so uncomfortable I can’t even take another bite without feeling like I’m about to puke.
Each body is different so it’s hard to ask, “hey is this normal?!” Lol
Sounds like y’all are all doing really well!!
@jazzyj13 and I will just be over here not eating 😹 lol jk

At my clinic this morning the surgeon asked me if I was having any trouble eating. I told him that I was doing okay but it was frustrating to me that soupy oatmeal is harder to get down than bean Soup. He told me that I just need to be patient and to realize that my stomach is like a newborn’s now and I have to gradually train it to tolerate tougher foods. The key is not to force it and to sensibly eat the textures and amounts of food I can tolerate. So I’m going to keep going slow and I’m going to give “new” foods a try very carefully.

I was sleeved March and was down 17.8 at my 3 week check. I see these big numbers and think what am I doing wrong? I have to keep telling myself to not compare because we are all different and our bodies have different needs.

While at times I am jealous...most of the time i feel good about my decision and progress. Stay positive everybody!

I'm 2 &1/2 weeks out. Lost 20 lbs. If I eat too fast without letting "my food hit bottom" between bites I feel sick. If I try to eat more than 1/2 cup a meal I feel sick & hurt sometimes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
