Help, Please! I had the gastric sleeve on Thursday so I'm six days out. I'm doing well, hardly any pain, getting my fluids, most days my Protein and waking. Go me! BUT here's my worry and my question! Last night everyone was being ready to go off to a Christmas party as i was mixing up my evening Protein Shake. It was eleven ounces. Anyway, chaos in the house everybody wanting something or telling me something blah blah blah...I'm not paying much attention and then i realise in about ten minutes time I had consumed that entire shake! Then i started freaking out because before surgery we are told we could hold two ounces at a time and that would increase over time to where we could take in four. I'm wondering if my sleeve is wrong or did i stretch it out? Now I'm noticing that i can drink a few ounces of Water at a time without feeling restricted much at all. I don't want to have gone through this surgery and not have it give me results because it's too big or i stretched it out! Am i missing something?

You are fine, you won't feel restriction with liquids but once you start on solid foods you will feel restriction. In the weeks to come you will notice that you will be able to drink a lot more water/liquids quicker than the sips.

Wanda's right. The liquids will go right through your pouch. No problem here! (Merry Christmas!)

Thank you so much, both of you for your help! This is absolutely a last chance attempt to get my life back and i really don't want to screw it up.
Thank you for asking. I had RnY on Monday the 10th. I find I can drink certain things, most things as I am still full liquid diet quicker than a couple sips. If I do not pay attention my broth or thin Soups can fill me about 2 sips too much. I am so afraid of screwing this up.

Ah I'm sure you won't, I still feel that way, I'm 14 weeks out today , actually been on this diet with a few modifications since I started my liver shrink August 1st, but then I am so special I shine, you wo t have the sorrows I have encountered. Few if any RnY do, still my 2 surgeons Dr Needleman and Dr Noria believe they can "fix" me, I believe in them, know they have my ultimate wellfare at 💓, we are in this the 3 of us until a victorious finish. No matter how long it takes I am staying the course! Currently have a PICC LINE in, being fed 14 hours a night, to ensure the ulcers that popped up post my surgery heal up, and I will retain this line until the proper time., even if it is well into 2019. Hey if you feel like talking more, or just need a friend, I'm here. Think of me as a Village Elder, if you like. But with all my personal pitfalls, I shall never regret my RnY, I believe it was a lifesaver for ME!😝🍀🙏

My RnY was not just because of my weight but because of diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea. The main catalyst being that I have a birth defect in my right tibia. Have had 8 bone transplants, 3 from my own hips. The bone is still fragile and I have worn a brace on it all my life. Now my left knee that pulled the brunt of my weight always needs replacement. I could not lose the weight neccessary so it would be safe for my right leg to even begin to handle the stress of extra weight. I have been over weight to some extent most of my life. To much time sitting to heal and do not much. I embrace this adventure whole heartedly. I can't wait till the weight starts coming off.[emoji300] [emoji301] [emoji300] [emoji301] [emoji300]

Well I have had 2 knew replacements, arthritis since 25, and one of hopeful thoughts is I might be able to stop having joints replaced with less weight load crunching and destroying my cartilage padding. You're my buddy from thick into thin, okay?

Not knew, KNEE, one in December 2014, one in February 2017. And they never will be as strong as a natural one, about 85% efficient but still better than before the operations. Each of us has some weak points, but we learn to handle and do it with grace.😝

Absolutely. [emoji3] I am thankful all of my specialists are in a umbrella group. Everyone of them has access to my complete record and can interact and communicate. They are all very knowledgeable and advanced in their fields. The ortho doctor can scan my knee to make the new one match the original as much as possible. My bypass was listed as a robo surgery. The doctor has like 6 patents for the devise and use of it. Very high tech. I still can't get them to give me bionics though. Lol! Since I was born with the bone defect I always wanted to get bionics like the Six Million Dollar Man. One can dream. [emoji3]

I had the same concern tonight. I drank more than 4 oz of Protein Shake in a 1 hour period and am terrified that it could stretch me. I was uncomfortable after but did not notice discomfort much while drinking it. Should I be worried?

Nope not until you are on a lot more solid food. Then it might be concerning.

I asked my dr about that. She assured me that liquids pass right thru and there was no real restriction on drinking amounts

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
