Talk to your nutritionalist and show them your eating chart or however you're tracking what you're eating they will be able to tell you if it's enough I am a little over 6 months out and I still feel like I'm not eating or getting enough calories I know I'm getting plenty of Water but when it comes to eating I'm still about three or four bites in and then I'm done so I'm still staying around the 500 calorie a day range so don't stress over it just talked to your dietitian

Are you still on full liquids or puree? You should *try* to get 72oz of Water a day, but I'll tell you I'm 7 weeks out and I'm lucky if I hit 50. I am usually hitting 40. The first 2 weeks I got about 20oz a day if I was lucky. If you feel dizzy or your urine is dark brown, contact your surgeon. I'm clearly not dead. Some days are worse than others. Some days are better. Calories I was told should be up to 500. I hit about 400+/- a day. Really depends on what phase you're in. And really you should just try to meet your Protein goals, regardless of calories. If you're on liquids, I doubt you'll be at 500 a day... Do you have a dietitian you can call?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
