GrmCruz 0 Posted December 18, 2018 Hello guys, I had the gastric sleeve surgery November 20, 2018. And I’m 29 pounds down. The day of surgery I was on my period lightly and ever since I’ve had the surgery I’ve been bleeding every single day. It’s now December 17th and I’m still bleeding. I have Polycysistic Ovarin Syndrome and I’ve always had long periods but I don’t understand why I am bleeding so much if the surgery is supposed to help regulate your period considering the Hormonal issue. I would please like some clarity on this as it’s giving me a lot of anxiety. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Jazzy1125 1,010 Posted December 18, 2018 I would recommend calling your doctor. I know mine showed up the night before (Nov 7th) and did not show up again until yesterday (Dec !7th) I am hoping for a normal go of it, but we shall see. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
HannahRB 24 Posted December 19, 2018 I had something similar-ish happen. I just got my surgery done on Saturday the 15th. I have been on birth control for 5 years. and was only two weeks out from my last period and right after the surgery i started my period, so there definitely is a correlation somewhere in there. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
AJP 132 Posted December 20, 2018 Omg this is me!!! I had a tubal and ablation in 2011. Pcos for 25+ yrs. Life was great. Bypass in August 2 days after surgery period heavy like I was a teenager for 7-8 days straight. Sept same thing. Oct same thing but then......10 days after October's stopped I started spotting and that continued until November's started for another 8 days. 2 days after it stopped spotting again until December's started. Went to gyn last week. Make it stop!!!!! Did blood work. Did ultrasound waiting for official results but Cysts still on ovaries. On 10 days of Provera then on birth control again. Dr days not enough studies to show results for repeat ablation. Talked about uterine artery embolization. I researched later that had even more mixed results. Most of the things my pcos caused eg high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc have gone back to normal but cycles are just like they were in the beginning. I am having flashbacks to the early days of either no period or spotting constantly. I'm just happy right now on the Provera so things will stop being sore!!!! 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
nomdeplume 36 Posted December 21, 2018 Something similar happened to me. I’m on birth control, but during surgery, whatever medication they used interfered with it. I had to sign a paper acknowledging this. Two days post-op, my period came. Then, out of the blue, two weeks later, it was back again. My surgeon told me I couldn’t start taking birth control again until I was 30 days post-op to prevent blood clots. The medication plus the 30-day hiatus messed with my whole system. I’m now 7 months post-op and, unfortunately, my periods are still wonky. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

But as we all know every surgeon/doctor/nutritionist is different
