Has anyone ever used Magic Mouthwash?

I have to pick up a rx for it later for my esophagus/stomach, and it is made of magnesium, aluminum, an antacid, and viscous lidocaine.

Is it going to make my stomach numb somehow and will I be able to feel foods/drink/sensation of fullness?

I haven't, but I sure am curious to hear more about this! When I had strep throat last year, they gave me this liquid/gel lidocaine stuff to gargle. Wonder if it's similar...time for Google!

Ummm, are you supposed to drink it? Everything I'm reading is about "swish, gargle, spit"

Yes, most use it for mouth sores they get with chemo. But it's also for gastrointestinal disorders like ulcers.

"You use it just like a regular mouthwash by swishing it around in your mouth and spitting it out. If you have sores or discomfort in your throat or the back of the mouth, you may need to gargle with the mouthwash to reach the affected areas. ... Depending on your symptoms, you may be advised to swallow the mouthwash."

I actually have it for the pain in my esophagus from dry-heaving.

I used it once but only to gargle when I had a wisdom tooth issue- it's pretty vile...good luck!

Yes an AWESOME ER Doc taught me how to make it for my children but they didn't swallow it from my recollection.

Good luck 🎈

Yeah, the purpose for me is to swallow it to numb my esophagus and stomach. I guess I need to ask the pharmacist about whether I'll be able to feel fullness.

It you can't eat by portion size.

I always measure out my food exactly but sometimes I have "meals" where I can't finish that portion, even if it's only 2oz.

BUT, I took the Magic Mouthwash and it didn't do anything except numb my throat for about 5 minutes so... that's that. lol.
