Sweet Tooth - Post Bypass

Recommended Posts

I tried a cup of Decaf tea with a capful of toffee flavoured SF Syrup. I wouldn't do it everytime but it made for a nice change!

Tried my FiberOne granola bar. Not good......It tasted delicious and it said it only had one gram of sugar but it made me super sick for about an hour. I was very nauseous and throwing up. Dumping syndrome at its best. UGGGG.....I guess back to the drawing board.

Popsicle brand makes a fudge pop "no sugar added" ice cream pop that's a good chocolate craving treat. Not sure yet if it makes you sick yet, my revision to the bypass is sometime in the next 2 months.

I stay away from SF candy but the pops are different. I don't eat any sf caramels, chocolates or Taffy of any kind. I can still eat a ton of SF candies, and it's definitely a trigger down that slippery slope of eating.

I'm still in the soft foods phase post--op just 12/11, so I'm digging on sugar-free popsicles and sugar-free pudding

Yes depending on SF candy is not a good idea at all. I could eat a ton of SF caramels and the calorie count is big, not worth the treat.

I just moved on to ground Proteins and I’m still sticking with the SF popsicles. They are so much better than I ever thought they would be. So relieved when I like something I thought I’d hate LOL

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
