Greetings All - Rookie

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I am a Forum Rookie - I am 6' 385 max weight, at 370 now. Prepping for a Dec 18th date with destiny. I am a self pay - so you know I am pretty serious about this. Not sure what else to say, but looking foward to going forward.

Not sure I need encouragement - not right now anyway, my four year old boy is providing plenty of that.

Could use a scouting report of what too expect....especially the first few days post-op.

My goal is 125 lbs by my 25th high school reunion - 2011. Doable?

If you want thin and healthy bad enough, you'll reach any goal you want. The band offers an amazing opportunity.

Traditional diet and exercise were too hard for me. Some can take it off but they can't keep it off. I couldn't even get more than a few pounds off.

While the band is hard, very very hard... it's different. It's the kind of hard WE can do, OUR population, those with eating disorders. WE can do this kind of hard, traditional diet and exercise are the kinds of hard most of us can't do.

As you can see by looking at Wasabubblebutt's ticker, she lost 103 pounds in only 10 months. I've lost 81 in less than 7 months, and I feel great.

Good luck, and plan to exercise too. The band doesn't work alone we have to work with it.

Take care.

Sue

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
