I feel like hell and sleeping in my own bed is awful. I miss the hospital bed adjusting to help with back pain. I woke up today feeling pretty awful. And my 15 yr old is not sympathetic at all...but my hubby is being amazing. I've been reading posts in here and relate to the feeling of crying randomly. Man this is rough! Just venting. [emoji37]

Teenagers suck.

Don’t worry, it gets better. One day at a time it slowly improves and then POOF a year has gone by!

aw man you hardly ever hear of people MISSING the hospital bed! Sounds like you might need to sleep in a recliner for a while?

I found that putting 2 Pillows one on each side ( that’s way I did not lay directly on my back) helped me sleep through the night on day 4 that’s the best sleep I have had . I’m five days post up and had a full blown emotional breakdown last night surprisingly ( it wasn’t even about the surgery or how I was feeling ) kids overwhelm me a bit but I quickly pulled my self together. It’s ok to cry ! Here i sit 5 days post op and it’s true things slowly get better.

Sounds like not a bad idea! 🤣 I've been experimenting with positions when I nap and having a pillow under my knees has helped!

So Sarah, did any of those tips help last night? How did you sleep?

I'm on week 3 post op and when I came home from the hospital I had been sleeping on the couch. And I still do now. It's just what is comfortable to me, until I am completely healed. I tried a few times sleeping in bed, but I still have some pain on my sides. The couch might be a good idea for now.

Still a bit rough last night! But I'm learning a bit of what works. Just had a little nap and was laying on my side! It was nice to have that change. [emoji4]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
