I'm getting banded on 12/28 in St. Louis, MO and am very excited! I am looking to perhaps meet with someone who has had this procedure at Wash. U in St. Louis also. Anyone out there willing to meet and share their experience??? Looking for a band-buddy!:)

Great! My doc is Roger DelaTorre (I forget how to spell it) My husband thinks I am crazy for doing this but is still supportive of me if it is what I want. I just want it to be over, the closer it gets the more nervous I get. I still want it but I just want it to be 2 weeks from today!

Hi Ann

I was banded on 12-19 and I have lost 8.5 lbs so far. As of now though I really don't want to eat or drink anything so much. I really am having a hard time getting my Protein in. Nothing appeals to me and I am not really hungry. Hopefully this improves I know I can't keep this up.

Everyone looks liek they are doing great.

Lisa, Dr. Wagner said it wasnt so important to get protien in right now. He said its just better to heal and be comfortable. The time for protien will come. Stick with what you can tolerate and keep down. Everything else will come with time. The biggest thing is to stay hydrated. De-hydration can cause nausea.

Stick with it. If it gets too bad call your doctors office I'm sure they can give you other suggestions.

At my worst I kept telling myself that I have to do this if I want to be skinny.

Also when you get cleared for soft foods, Mac & cheese the noodles a little overcooked, is great with a little protien powder added.

Also remember you are not alone in this, we are all right there with you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
