When did you go back to work?

I’m curious how long other folks were off work after bypass. My surgeon said most people can get back after just a week. After his own bypass, he was performing surgery again in just 7.5 days after 😳

I had mine over winter break (teacher) so 10 days including weekends . Just be careful to not lift anything too heavy

Wasnt about pain at all past day 3 or 4 (gas pain only) ... was about learning and getting routines around eating and hydrating

I took 2 weeks off. I found it to be the perfect amount of time. I was doing fine physically after one week but took the other week to adjust to all the changes.

Six weeks for me, but I have a physically demanding job and had to be cleared to be off of weight restrictions to return.

Take as long as financially feasible given your situation is my advice.

Folks I work with are like family. So far, everyone has been supportive of my choice to do the surgery, but I'm wondering how true people really are sometimes. Did any of ya'll return to work and expect support, but notice people (or a person) change how they interact with you?

I took 2.5 weeks off (there were some holidays in there). It was alright - I have a desk job. I was really dehydrated at first so I would get a bit dizzy and hot flashes. But bearable.

Surgery on a Tuesday worked from home Friday for two hours. Next week went in for three hours and went home. The second week you are still adjusting to what you can and can’t do and focusing on your intakes. I just found it hard to focus until the second part of the second week. Third week I was back full time no issues.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
