First restaurant post-op

Recommended Posts

I've been invited to a restaurant (actually, dinner theatre which I think is some sort of dinner we eat whilst light entertainment is performed) and it's my first time eating out post-op. Bit nervous.

I figure salad or fish should be on the menu at the very least (can't eat meat coz it's not halal). Please don't let it be a set menu!!

Can you call the venue and ask what the menu is? That way you can be prepared. And if nothing else, you can eat something or drink a Protein Shake before if there isn't anything that works.

I find the whole experience of going out to eat after having surgery to be the worst! I agree with @notmyname, try drinking a Protein Shake beforehand! Easy way to enjoy the show without having to worry about the food!

You can never go wrong with just ordering drinks, iced or tea or coffee brink your sugar substitute and Creamer or eat small sides which are usually vegetables.. you can even eat before you go then just enjoy the festivities with Water !

Good luck !

Thanks guys, Imma ring today and find out what the options are. If there isn't doable, I'll sneak a Protein Bar and some nuts in my bag and work with coffee.

So turns out there is a veggie option [emoji818]️ let's just hope it's not full of starchy carbs and fat.

I did it lads. Turns out steamed salmon was on the menu. It came with a creamy sauce but I just avoided that and there were some veggies I ate with it. For dessert we got a plate of petit fours. Lads, I DIDN'T EAT THE chocolate BROWNIE OR THE MERINGUE! OK I ate the mini apple pie thingy but it was really tiny me not too sweet.

I am so proud of myself!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
