yeah it usually is screened for at age 10, at that age Your bones can be splinted, casted and realigned. Yeah I have scoliosis, lordosis and kyphosis, my spine is pretty much a train wreck. Doctor asked me once "arent you in pain?" I never knew there was any way you were not in constant Pain. I try to cook and keep Tomkitten fed but usually I have to sit down before the end. Hoping the weight loss will lessen the torsion, twisting and pain and the hurt may lessen. of course I still believe in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the innate goodness of the human race, 1 out of 3 ain't good!.😝🏡😝

Why do you show a surgery date of 2/7/14??? Aren't you only 3 months out or less? Technically tweeners are somewhere 6-9 months and beyond including vets. Just curious.

Because some9ne unknown did that to me a 22nd I can't repair it. Many people and I suspect yo7 are one, work off a laptop or other computer. I do not, my correspondence is on the Android app on my semi-Smartphone. I say semi because it spells and posts items willy-nilly. I'm sure you remember December 2017 when I came to Bariatric Pal as a rank newbee, you remember all my trials and tribulations until I finally achieved my RnY on September 5th 2018, yet that erroneous date follows me around like an unwanted rectal fissure. And I am Ding-Dong-Delled if I can find a way to repair it! I begged Ken and Alex on bended cursor to somehow purge it off of me, because I don't have the Internet Knowledge to rid it. At 3-and- half months post I am just an early 2nd semester Freshman but I look up to you Sophmores and want to follow in many of your footsteps but yet drag that 2014 date along with me. In 2014 I was obese , sad and didn't even plan a Bariatric Future, thought I was too broken down, no surgeon would give me the time of day, let alone operate. So it is Wrong Wrong Wrong!

I know this is the holidays and all which presents a unique set of challenges for us, but beyond that...if there is a "beyond" for that. ;)

Do any of you Sophomores find yourself losing focus or struggling to retain the initial thrill of the post weight loss lifestyle? Are you starting to "live again," maybe go out, indulge in not-so-therapeutic activities that keep you from maximizing weight loss for the month?

Are you still actively in the losing phase or are you somewhere between your first goal and final goal?

Just curious about the things you do to keep the spice alive and momentum up! Cuz you know...diet fatigue happens! :D

I'm deeeep into diet fatigue and haven't hit my first goal yet! I'm having so much trouble making myself give a sh!t. I log 3/4 of the way through the day, but not finish it, I've started letting treats slip into my diet, UGH! I know better but I'm so burned out. I did start back with the therapist, hoping to get back on track.

Re RD, I already know what to eat. Therapist has a better shot at making me follow my plan.

When I got close to goal, I was not working as hard for the weight loss. I always failed at maintaining. I had some fear to work on. The last ten pounds took the longest time for me to lose.

Diet fatigue still happens when you are maintaining. At this moment I'm not feeling the spice or momentum.

I so wish they could've operated on our brains, rather than our stomachs. We treated the symptoms, not the cause!

Ditto. Vain, single and with disposable income. Also frankly, it sounds like sillykitty and I have similar work roles, and there is a definite advantage in my role at least to being pulled-together (in this case literally, with sutures).

Yes, to all of this.

Professionally I think I'm mostly able to cover my flaws with compression panties, fitted pants, and wrapped or ruched dresses. The tough one is my arms and short sleeves, and of course my neck. It's just my own vanity that makes me want to wear sheath and body con style dresses!

Losing the weight, and getting ps will undoubtedly help my career. Within my current company the effect will be limited, as the ladder is out of rungs. But it will give me more options (and better pay!) if I decide to go elsewhere. In some ways that seems unfair. But the reality is, I'm the face of my company to many people. Why wouldn't a company want someone healthy and attractive (as well as competent) to represent them?

Yes, and our metabolism!

I was with a colleague last week who is tall, model gorgeous and THIN. She kept talking about how much she loved to eat, how the gym is some form of torture, and her whole goal in life is to find the next place to sit. I was like "aint life a b*tch!"

Then did you pinch your fingers together and "asplode" her head?🤓

I didn’t know I have scoliosis until the barium swallow for VSG, at which point the nurses went “oooooh” audibly from the next room. Not even mild, MODERATE scoliosis, it’s incredibly visible on x-ray. And the more I lose, the more I totally notice that my torso is shifted to the left above my pelvis. It’s very weird.

So glad you posted this.

I was never diagnosed with scoliosis as a child. My back started bothering me after weight loss. I went to see a chiropractor and my xrays shocked me. Scoliosis. Apparently, I have lived with this for many years. All I can do is laugh. I have a hip higher than the other. Spine is an s shape. Left scapula protrudes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
