My diet so far is a sort of mix of purée and soft. I’m not overly keen on things with the texture of baby food. Some of the things I’ve tried that aren’t too bad are

Stewed fruit with custard or yogurt.

Slightly undercooked poached egg. Mashed not blended.

Baked Beans.

Tinned corned beef

Cooked mashed vegetables.

Avo.

Smoked salmon, tuna both of these are also good blended with cottage cheese.

I did blend some super soft slow cooked beef with gravy yesterday and had it over veg. That was ok. Blending everything together though is gross.

Tried a tuna lasagne - wasn’t a fan so that got used as dog food

I’ve also had weetbix which I used to like but it now tastes like horse food.

Ive eaten oats twice and both times they made me feel a little weird. Not full on dumping but definetly not right.

KayC12019 (not sure how to reply to your message yet🤦‍♀️)
I’m doing great. Struggling with food choices, scared I’m overeating, blocked up, back at work full time, walking 8k steps a day and loving the kgs and cms falling off me 👌🏽

Feeling the same way scared to eat because it's like I feel it falling in my stomach. Sorry I am being extra😩😩

Haha it’s a massive learning curve 😱 I don’t feel it falling into stomach and am on semi-Solids already.

I worry that I can ‘eat’ heaps more than a girl I know who had it done a year ago but still no pain or discomfort from overeating. So guessing every stomach is different post op and I’m just being paranoid and that what I’m eating purées to the right size suggested roughly 🤦‍♀️😩

Omg I just threw up my first time I only had mashed up tuna and mashed up boiled egg like 3oz and threw it all up. My first sensation was uncomfortableness, excessive salvia and the overwhelming need to throw up. Sorry tmi I just never experienced it until now yuck 🤢

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
