When we count carbs, are we supposed t count full carbs or net carbs?

It depends on what program you follow. My dr. doesn't have you track carbs at all. But my focus is supposed to be on lean Protein and non-starchy veggies. A few stray carbs sliding in here-and-there haven't seemed to cause me grief.

If your carb counting, only net carbs. Net carbs are Fiber and/or sugar alcohols which our bodies cannot process.

Check with your dietician. I count grams of carbs. Not net.

I actually did this morning, she said we could only count net carbs if the amount of Fiber was higher than 5g.. other than that it was total carbs.

I was wanting to buy carbquick so i could make pancakes, just wanted to make sure i could have it. I tried the Protein pancakes with chickpeas.. absolutely gross. I wont eat it all the time because in my book it is like having bread, but something different than eggs and cottage cheese a few times i would be eternally grateful. LOL. I start soft foods on Thursday.

Thanks! That includes the pre-surgery loss, but still pretty good. I have been estatic so far!! Although this week i went up 3 pounds, but there are 2 specific reasons for that LOL.. Give it a week and it will be back down plus some!

If you want some delicious, quick and easy Protein pancakes that are low carb, try the cottage cheese/rolled oat/egg white recipe. Google search...

I used to eat those quite a bit, my husband loved them too. I need to make them again soon....yummy! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
