ShawanaWalton 9 Posted December 3, 2018 Why does the taste of sugar not bother me and I’m 15 months out? 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

ShawanaWalton 9 Posted December 3, 2018 Like the CO2 make me sick and nauseous. I stop drinking sodas July 1st 2017. I have the gastric sleeve August 17th 2017, I tried drinking a ginger ale a couple times but it hurts my chest so I’ve avoided anything with the fizz in it, but I can tolerate sweets from time to time and it doesn’t make me sick. I’m in a support group where I live and some say the sugary candy makes them sick.
Geodude 66 Posted December 3, 2018 Which surgery did you do? From what I understand Bypass patients are more likely to have that problem. Even then though, it seems like a crap shoot and the dice land differently for everybody. I think you just got lucky/unlucky depending on how you feel about it. ShawanaWalton 9 Posted December 3, 2018 Gastric sleeve. I’m really struggling with it. I wish I lost the taste for anything sweet. I’ve come so far and that’s my biggest fear.
Geodude 66 Posted December 3, 2018 You may still yet lose it. I've heard a lot of people say their tastes change and my nutritionist says that it often comes after a couple of months when the taste buds change. So try not to worry. Right now focus on Protein and Water. I've had a couple hard candies since surgery and they seem to sate my sweet tooth. Before surgery I'd need to down a half a batch of brownies to do it in. So, even if you do eat some sweets, maybe the new moderation will do the trick. 1 ShawanaWalton reacted to this
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted December 3, 2018 Yes. It doesn’t bother me either. Unfortunately the onus is on us to follow a proper diet and exercise to continue to lose weight. Just like before surgery. The good news is after losing a large amount of weight it’s easier to stay on track. 2 1 sillykitty, ummyasmin and ShawanaWalton reacted to this
ShawanaWalton 9 Posted December 3, 2018 Yes it is up to us! Dang it 😂😂 my nutritionist said if I can do 7 weeks liquid diet pre op on my own ( phenomenal) I can do anything. This was my 3rd attempt at weight loss surgery so I was afraid I would wake up in recovery again and be the same me when I woke up. Now that I have the surgery, I have a hard time sometimes especially when I feel depressed but I’m working on it. I went from 610lbs July 1 to 575 August 17,2017 surgery day til now just 460. And I could be more but I haven’t exercised due to 2 herniated disks, bulging disk in my back and my knees are shot! But I’m no longer on my scooter and shop and do things that I could do before. So I know I don’t wanna go back! That’s not an option! 2 2 Geodude, ElectricBoogaloo, ProudGrammy and 1 other reacted to this
