notmyname 593 Posted December 1, 2018 I was sleeved 10/29 and am trying to set myself up on a schedule to do measurements and progress pics. I had originally thought I'd do them every month. But I did them this week and it was a bit dispiriting. Pics look the same. Lot inches in my bust/chest and legs, but almost none in my hips/waist. I've also lost a fair amount in my fingers (so much that my rings no longer fit on my ring finger without my being afraid they'll fall off, so I wear them on my middle finger). And this after losing 20# since surgery and 40# total. So I know its working, and I'm not going to get discouraged. All that said - what is a good schedule for doing progress pics/measurements? Thanks!
Jimmy Keller 36 Posted December 1, 2018 Well I think it will matter how heavy you start and how muck you expect to loose. In my case I started at 492 at 6 feet tall and I have lost 60 lbs so far and I am likeyou I cant tell a difference in pics but I notice other ways like you.I would say what ever youdo take the pics with the same exact clothes on with the same position and background weather it be monthly or a certain amount of pounds. 1 notmyname reacted to this
notmyname 593 Posted December 1, 2018 I was 295 at surgery and my doc sticks with the average 60% EWL for what to plan to lose. I wore the same clothes and did a front and side pic each time (although I turned the wrong way for the pic today. Maybe I'll stick to doing it once a month and just see what I see. Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted December 1, 2018 I take pics monthly, weight/measurements weekly. Sometimes you can't see much in the pics, but they're still good for documenting your journey. 2 notmyname and Wanda247 reacted to this
Jimmy Keller 36 Posted December 1, 2018 If you do it monthly it will be cool to see them all side by side in a row in a year 2 Orchids&Dragons and notmyname reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted December 20, 2018 I think I will continue doing them on the 5th of the month, since that was my surgery day. Other good times might be 1st day of each month or the day of the week, my own was also 1st Wednesday.
looly 361 Posted December 20, 2018 I don't do progress pictures, I do progress-dressing! Every month, I try on clothes that had been too small for me. It's great when I find I can fit in them - it's even more brilliant when they become too big for me! I find looking at photos to be too subjective - I tend to see them with my 'fat eyes' - but I can't argue with loose clothing. 2 Wanda247 and CyndieRI reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted December 20, 2018 Good frame of mind, I like it. I keep considering sending my picture in to Bariatric Pal, but I have resisted, see I was told so long I was obese, ugly and no one would want to look at me, pictures were prideful that I can't believe anyone would want to see mine. So Looly you look with "fat" eyes I guess I'm still looking with "ugly" ones. But the Fat Shell is cracking, at this point I think I still resemble my dead Mama but surely by Spring I will look younger, maybe I'll get brave then! 1 Neversaynever reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,443 Posted December 20, 2018 Every time my weight changes, up or down I record it and do the same with a change of photos. It reminds me sometimes that 2lbs doesn't look vastly different but 7 can. It started primarily for MyfitnessPal's progress updates but I also change my avatar here at the same frequency. I plan to stay authentic, and every one will see it.
mousecat88 2,281 Posted December 20, 2018 I've decided not to do progress pictures. I just want to see the one big dramatic change at the very end, post-plastic surgery. BUT, I finally got the courage to try on a smaller pair of pants I fit into last year and sized out of, this morning, and they fit! I like the idea of buying clothes one size down and then just trying those on every, say, 10lbs down and seeing how closer they are to closing or fitting correctly. I've also decided to weight once every 1-2 weeks. I've become way too obsessed with the scale and instead of just seeing 1lb go every few days, it'd be nice to get on and see that 5lbs are gone!
