Right, that's why I always state I'm pre-op and I'm not sure how what I follow will translate to post-op people because a post-op person's physiology is completely changed.

But you responded with that advice to @SteveT74, who is post op ....

If I could go back and edit my comment to clarify, I would. I was explaining what I currently follow (pre-op) and how I handle calories. I did mention at the end that I don't know how pre-op Keto translates to post-op since most people follow low-fat post-op. But I understand...I'll be more careful.

I tried IF one day several months ago and actually felt empowered that day. However I've been too scared to try it since. I'm ready to give it a try again but have a few questions. When I'm fasting, can I have coffee and Water and flavored waters? I assume Protein Shakes are out but sort of seem to recall that the coffee and waters are ok. Thoughts? Why am I so scared? lol.

Thanks. That makes me very happy. Why am I so scared to do this though?

No idea why you think that but there seem to be quite a few people who think that not-eating for e. g. 16 h or so is kind of scary or weird or whatever.

Why do you want to do IF, btw?

I've had regain and can't seem to get it off. I want to try IF to get the regain off again but hope it also makes me more mindful of what I am doing.

Why do others do IF?

There is a whole thread on IF on this board. GreenTealael postet quite a few videos about several benefits of IF despite calorie control. That said, not everyone loses weight on IF because of over-compensating later in the day.

Here's a great thread from my Keto community about IF and ketosis https://www.ketovangelist.com/fasting-destroys-your-cells-and-thats-a-good-thing/ Also, Dr. Jason Fung, MD is the be all, end all when it comes to IF. Tons of videos and books https://www.dietdoctor.com/authors/dr-jason-fung-m-d :1311_thumbsup_tone2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
