Hi everyone! I have been reading this forum for some time now. I was banded October 16th but even from before this site really helped me as to what to expect. To be totally honest I am still rather confused about alot of things, and wuite franky somtimes i get discouraged. I have lost 16lbs, most of it from my pre-op liqueid diet. My first fill isnt until Dec. 5th and to be quite honest I am nervous about that. I have been feeling hungry again. As i read through the forum this morning i noticed the term head hunger was used often and i believe that is part of my problem. Perhaps I am used to failing at losing weight that i fear this will be another loss because of the "head hunger" if i wasnt able to conquer it before, how will I now? All I know is I have quite the journey ahead!

Good luck to all of you and I hoep to post good news and encouragment to others some day soon! :)

Welcome NewJourney - Yes, you will still be hungry at times - what food stage are you on - Are you getting your Protein in - are you drinking your Water - are you walking. What I do when I am hungry - I eat extra veggies (zuchinne or yellow crooked neck squash - low calories very good) - i find a distraction such as get on the computer and come here - or clean out a drawer - just do something so you don't think about food. This is a lifestyle change - you really have to look at food differently and you will - I am 4 months out as of this coming Saturday - I feel great - looking good for a still fat old woman who is now a 14 - not a 22. Take it one day at a time - make healthy food choices and exercise this will work..

Good Luck........

Thanks for responding IndioGirl55 ! I just passsed the "mushies stage" My doctor has me strictly on protien. i am not allowed veggies or fruit yet. It is almost like the Atkins, I can not even have milk. I am mainly eating chicken and some avocado, that's what i have for lunch. I am really craving a salad! After a while the all Protein thing gets to me. in about a month I should be able to add a vegetable a day. I do walk, and i dont know if it's just me but sometimes when i am feeling good i speed up the treadmill and my port kind of feels like it throbs and it feels "tight" like it bulges a little, i usually slow my pace and that helps. But you are right it's about changing my eating habits and keeping busy! It's just nice to have a place where even though we all experience different things, we are all in the same boat!!

New Journey - I am so sorry about your food restrictions - OMG i would not have been able to follow those rules - I can't to the atkins type eating plan - i am a WW girl - cuz you get a little bit of every thing in Portion Control size. I have to get 60 grm Protein daily - ususally don't have a problems with this - In my mushie/soft stage I mashed potatoes, refired Beans - scrambled eggs - oatmeal - polenta - fish and all kinds of veggies (well cooked but thats how I like them).. Your port will bug you for a while but then you forget about it - just like i forget about my band sometimes when I am really hungry - but it will remind you when you eat too fast - I have pb'd on pudding - OMG no milk - Calcium helps rid your body of fats - I could have dannon lite & fit yogurt - but i am of the age where i need my calicum - i don't drink milk but use it cooking, yogurt and pudding & fudgecicles (sf)

This is normal....after your fill you will be feeling much better...don't be nervous about the fill...it is not painful...I was a nervous wreck..I was so scared...and honey, it was nothing...I felt like such an idiot when I left the office...I had worked myself up in a tizzy and it was over so quick and did not hurt at all.....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
