Instant Pot?

Recommended Posts

I've heard good things about the Instant Pot and am thinking of getting one. There are just 2 of us at home. Should I get the 6 quart or 3 quart? If we want to cook a roast is the bigger size better? Any tips or advice?

Thanks!

Get the bigger one! We have the smaller one and unfortunately found out it can’t fit a whole chicken.

Also- I love ours! We use it a few times a week.

Family of 4. We got the 6qt and it was perfect! It is a lifesaver for quick yet quality meals for full-time busy families. My husband and I both work full time and I go to college full time and our children are ages 10 and 7, both boys. So I have plenty of appetites to fill and the instant pot makes me like the perfect 1960s mom with a roast hot on the table by dinner time when she got off work at 3 in the afternoon.

Is this like a pressure cooker? I have had one of those for years (still in the box - never used it - lol). You all have made me want this but if I buy one more gadget I don’t use I think my husband might divorce me!! 😁

For those not willing to wait for Santa, Kohl's has a code for 25% off plus you get Kohl's cash to use later. The code is HOLIDAY25. I just ordered an air fryer oven and got a great price on it. Now I have to return the one I bought from Bed, Bath and Beyond on Monday. I already have a 6 qt Instant Pot and love it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
