Anyone else bad at taking pictures?

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 months postop and am ecstatic with my weightloss so far. I'm down 70 pounds since I've started the whole process, and I did take preop pictures but I've hardly taken any pictures beyond a hand full of head shots. Anyone else happy with their body but still camera shy?

yeah still ashamed I still feel ugly, decades of fat-shaming to get past. Sickly joked to myself, nobody wants MINE unless they have rats or bugs to scare away. Tomkitten says I'm it half as ugly as I think I am. That's why I am going to spring for future GlamourShots to help with my self- confidence. Sure I will never look 20 or 30, bariatric surgery only " youthfuls" your appearance so far, but can I look an Happier 72? Its rough, today Precious Pouch is spasming on me, been taking things in slowly and lightly, no urping yet, but it puts worse than a scowl on my face!😥😪💦

Body dysmorphia is about as common as rain in my beautiful city of Vancouver, BC. LOL It can often take the brain a long time to accept and interpret what the eyes see in a more honest way. The best way to approach it is to battle it head on.

  • Try on clothes that actually fit and flatter you, and don't dismiss it when people compliment you.
  • Look in the mirror - REALLY look in the mirror. Don't look away. Make friends with yourself.
  • Rephrase the automatic negative thoughts that enter your head. Our inner voice has a major influence on our perception. If we repeat the negative, bullying, things we've heard from others we'll believe them even more.
  • Don't allow yourself to bully yourself, shut that garbage down as soon as you catch yourself doing it.

In time, and with mindful self-care your brain will re-program itself.

Trust me, we've all been there. There IS a way out.

Absolutely! My situation is s little different than most. I had a Lap Band for 10 years. I lost 100+ lbs and kept it off for years. I had my band emergency removed. I thought I could maintain the weight myself but I ended up putting back on 100 lbs in a year. I was sleeved in October. Even though I’ve lost 36 lbs so far, I am unable to be happy about it. I couldn’t see how bad it was when I was gaining but now that I’m loseing it, it’s very sobering. I suspect I won’t be able to be proud of my accomplishment until I’ve hit 100+ lbs lost.

Oh sure! I am never gonna be of the selfie generation. :) We were just raised differently. But it really does take a while for your head to catch up with your body. And for me the best way to do that is to take monthly comparison photos and make myself look at them. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
