Gastric Sleeve On Nov 20th

Recommended Posts

be careful with the caffeine. I do not believe we are supposed to be drinking caffeine right now due to its a dehydrator. Check with your Dr. First.. but something I learned at a support meeting was to roast veggies and put them in your broth to give it flavor, then to remove them.

I was sleeved on 20th too. I drink chicken bouillon from BPal (15g protein), Protein2o (15g protein) and apple juice diluted 1:1 with Water. Also tropical sf popsicles
Thank you. I've been drinking mostly Water I feel so sick to my stomach taking Protein. [emoji24][emoji24]
I'm just not hungry. I could barely swallow my pills. It hurts so much and I want to throw up. It takes me about 40 minutes after taking a pill to be okay.

I drink Walmart brand fruit punch packets in my Water. I'm pre-op right now, but hate hate hate drinking water. This stuff is a life saver. There are a bunch of different flavors and you can either get the packets to put in a water bottle or to make 2 qts at home. (I make that and just fill up my big cup that has 24 oz in it to sip through the day so I know exactly how much water I'm getting.) The nutritionist said this counts as my water/fluid intake so I'm good.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
