jesseycakes 103 Posted November 22, 2018 Whose bright idea was it to schedule my surgery the Monday after Thanksgiving? I'm on day 4 of my liquid diet and I'm very sad and hungry. I have done very good except for today. I took a bite of mashed potatoes. I hope this doesn't hurt me. I'm struggling! 1 Hrsnjs reacted to this

I have done very good except for today. I took a bite of mashed potatoes. I hope this doesn't hurt me. I'm struggling! You will be ok. One bite will not be the end of the world. The key is to not let it turn into a binge day (I'm famous for...I already messed up, so why not more?)...remember you are doing this to improve your life. One Thanksgiving is a small sacrifice. This is for the Long haul! And depending on your program, it seems like you may be on pureed or soft textured foods by Christmas. Hang in there. We have all felt like you. I had my surgery a week before my birthday. I was still on clears when it rolled around. No japanese food, no cheesecake! In the scheme of things, it was ok even though I had a hard time that day. Swanton_Bomb 522 Posted November 23, 2018 That is tough. liquids are tough enough, but during a holiday and without the post-op reduced stomach! You are strong and disciplined to only take a bite of potato (which won't hurt you, it was only a bite). If you can get through this, you can get through ANYTHING. You got this! Best wishes on your surgery. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Karma321 15 Posted November 23, 2018 I have to start a 14 day liquid diet this weekend. How come some are 7 days and others 14? Really nervous about starting. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Geodude 66 Posted November 23, 2018 Wow, well done not eating more than a bite. I'm lucky that I'm on my post op liquid diet. I don't know that I would have shown the restraint you did. Good luck. If you could handle today, you can handle anything. 1 jesseycakes reacted to this
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted November 23, 2018 I was on liquids last year for thanksgiving. You will be fine. It is hard for everyone but the holidays are even more so. Stay strong, you can do it! 1 jesseycakes reacted to this
Martha88 30 Posted November 23, 2018 I have to start a 14 day liquid diet this weekend. How come some are 7 days and others 14? Really nervous about starting. It depends on how much fat percentage and BMI each individual is at the pre-op stage. The whole point for the pre-op liquid diet is to reduce the amount of fat around the liver. The liver needs to be manipulated and moved around during the surgery and needs to have the least an ok until of fat surrounding it at the time of surgery.Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Jean9 reacted to this

To shrink your liver so it's easier during surgery. Good luck! 1 Jean9 reacted to this

The first few days are hard, but after that it's not too bad. I struggled with Thanksgiving, but most of the week I've been able to occupy my mind with other things. If I can do this, you can.
