Hello, I'm a first timer.

Recommended Posts

Hello! This is my first time writing in. I was banded on 6/15/07 in Cinn, OH by Dr. Osboure. My current weight loss is 31 lbs. I have about 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I've had 4 fills and feeling pretty good. I'm wondering if there is anybody out there that can still eat alot on that much of a fill. I guess my question is that, when will I feel that fullness or tightness feeling, because I have been at a stand still for about a mouth now? I'm not losing that 2 lbs a week thing. What I'm I doing wrong?

You really can't compare fill amounts from one person to another. With one person 4cc could restrict them to the point that they can't drink Water and another it wouldn't touch their restriction.

It's all very individual and unique.

Do you feel you have any restriction? How much food are you eating? What is a typical daily menu? How much exercise are you getting?

The first thing I ask myself when I am not losing is am I eating the banster way, with the Protein first, veggies second and carbs only if I have room. Usually I find that I have gotten off track someplace and need to change that. If you are eating properly, and exercising, and not losing weight, then it is time for another fill.

Hey Traci,

Sometimes it just depends. It could still be for many reasons. Don't give up, but if you continue to wonder just call and ask. I consulted with Dr Osborne. He seemed really nice but my insurance wouldn't cover so I did self pay with someone a little closer to my home that was more affordable. Very nice office. Traci don't give up there could be a lot of other variables sometimes too you just have to monitor what you eat whether you feel full or not. After the preop diet and the first five weeks I learned that I can live without the food for longer than I could ever imagined before. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
