Band removed 11/13/18

Recommended Posts

Ok I am still trying to figure this forum out since I have never been on one before and I do not know if it is getting to people that can answer my questions. On 11/13/18 I had the band and scar tissue removed. It was very hairry!!! What was supposed to take 30 min. to maybe 45 ended up 4 hours. My family was beside themselves with worry. Today I am 3 days out and feel like I got kicked by a horse, but I know as time passes the pain and discomfort will lessen. My DR. told my Husband that the port that was inside was one that was used for cancer patients, it was not the right port. He asked an odd question about had I had other procedures done. My Husband told him only what I had told him. I was upfront and honest with my DR. about any surgeries I had had in the past. Maybe this would explain why I had so much pain in my right side where the port sight was. I know that it had flipped and twisted. I know that there is a secret club where DR.'s cover each others ass but this was not right what was done to me. I am going back in in Feb. and have gastric bypass. My question is will I feel this lousy after I have it done. I have had spasmatic pains. I usually have a high threshhold for pain but this has kicked by butt. I would appreciate any info anybody can give. Also if you have ever heard of a cancer port being used for this kind of surgery.

Best Regards

Wanda

You have got to be kidding me! That's awful.

You may try posting in the gastric bypass section for responses.

Best of luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
