Before picture

Recommended Posts

People!! Take a full body before picture. I’m coming up to my one year anniversary and I literally do not have one full body picture anywhere to compare. I’m so so sorry I didn’t do this.

I didn’t want any pictures to remind me of how big I was, but this isn’t about defeat in weight loss, this journey is about celebrating how far we have come, and a picture is worth a thousand words!!

@Road Runner

love the above sentiment - i didn't have any pictures from my past. Like many OP, I ran from the camera, or stood in the back, trying to hide myself. (but i was pretty hard to miss!!) I had DH take a full picture of me before surgery.

good suggestion for newbies, also taking their measurements throughout the journey.

I wanted to remember what i looked like, its my past that i don't want to forget.

Not dwell on, but remind myself at times when i might/or want to eat.

keep up the good job - i know you will!!

happy surgiversary

good luck

kathy

As you probably know Kathy I had a bawl-fest a while back. What triggered it? A poster in her hospital's gown, mesh hat on her hair, ready to transport to OR, saucy left thumb extended in the air. And Tomkitten, nurses or anyone else considered my feeling enough to tAke one. I do have ones afterward, gown up over my face showing my surgical wounds, but how do you know it's really me? I could have bought them off another Baiatric website, I do hear tell there are others.
So since I cried myself to the edge of dehyration THAT. DAY, I shall comemorate another future day. The day Dr Noria gets my Strictures fully dialated, my ulcers are in abayance and I finally can go onto a pureed/soft diet, Precious Pouch can grow up and become the adult Turkey Egg Roux en Y pouch Dr Needleman designed her to be. Sometimes I wish I could rip her from my abdomo- chest, spank her soundly and then replace her back in!
I know I am smaller, the chairs I no longer get stuck in and need to be pulled free testify to that, and I am down 60+ pounds since the end of July. But having it spread over such a wide area makes it not as apparent to J9e or Jane Schmoe in the street. And I tell myself as I upchuck almost every evening " Its worth it! It's worth it!" and when all bets are in it will be!

I wish I had taken a few before pictures as well.

Even my surgeon wanted to see one at my last appointment.

Don't you want to say " I put such evil, things behind me, I am searching for Glory now!" He should be treating the up- and-coming YOU. and the future YOU not the sad lady who may have brought you There.😝

Y'all are so encouraging and supportive!! It's inspiring!! Thanks for your help. I am pre-surgery and have taken before pics but really only for a exercise program before I knew that surgery was an opportunity to be utilized. My children refuse to take pictures with me and of me for decades. So I truly appreciate the opportunity to have this conversation.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
