sweetie06 0 Posted November 12, 2007 How important is the liquid diet for the 2-3 weeks after surgery? I just had my surgery Wed. November 7th and I hardly eat anything and am trying hard to stay on the liquid diet. But I moved on to stage 2. It is more fillng to eat baby food or oatmill and full faster than the liquid. But I was wondering if I should just stick to the stage one for the 2-3 weeks?

Telecia 1 Posted November 12, 2007 the liquid diet is so your stitches holding your band in place can heal best. Because the more solid the food the more the whole stomach churns (moves around) while digesting it. So the post op liquid diet is VERY important. Iv'e seen where many people have great success adding a protien suppliment to their liquids to help feel fuller. Which helps them stay on the liquids easier. sweetie06 0 Posted November 12, 2007 Thank You Telecia, I understand it better now. So I shall stick to the liquid diet as instructed. I'm sure it also cuts down on infections as well. Thanks again for all your help and good luck
Dave01 0 Posted November 12, 2007 I started on Protein Shakes as part of my liquid diet and it really helped. So much that I still have them twice a day. LOL Try to folow the diet that your dr set up for you. In the long run, it really helps with the band settling in and the healing itself.
