HoneyBeBrave 3 Posted November 11, 2018 Am I ever going to be able to drink more then an ounce or two of Water? Or will I always have to sip?
Jazzy1125 1,010 Posted November 11, 2018 I am only 3 days post op. I am not sure but I have read somewhere that in time you will be able to take bigger sips, as your stomach heals and such. I am not sure how far out you are but I hope it gets better for you. I am just learning the sipping stage. Trying to understand and listen to when my sleeve is full. Since I am only 3 days post op, hoping to figure this out soon. Yesterday I drank 2 16 ounce bottles of Water, a few sips of chicken broth in the hospital and a Jello ice pop. I had fluids yesterday morning, so today I really need to work towards 64 ounces. 1 HoneyBeBrave reacted to this
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted November 11, 2018 The sipping, in the beginning, is because with all the swelling in your stomach, the Fluid needs to trickle through. Once the swelling eases up, you will be able to drink normally. Not huge gulps, but normal drinking, which will enable you to get to 64 oz much more easily. Most people can drink more by the end of the first week. 1 1 Babynash and HoneyBeBrave reacted to this
shazz73 64 Posted November 11, 2018 3 weeks out and I drink normally now. Once in a while I forget and chug and feel the pressure in my belly but nothing terribly dramatic, just a good reminder to slow down a bit... 1 1 Orchids&Dragons and HoneyBeBrave reacted to this
HoneyBeBrave 3 Posted November 12, 2018 Thanks for the feedback. I am 6 days post-op and notice I can tolerate a little more with each day. I’m still struggling to get in Fluid and Protein. Did about 30oz of protein and another 30oz of Water yesterday.
Smurf 14 Posted November 17, 2018 Yes, this! I'm 3 days post op and am really struggling with drinking. I've always been able to chug Water if I go thirsty, and now i can't. Anything more than a sip or two at once and i get a sharp pain right above my stomach. Have only gotten in 26 oz of liquid today; 29 grams of Protein. The Muscle Milk Protein Shakes I drank before surgery taste SO gross to me now. Gotta figure out something else! :P
Lynnlovesthebeach 626 Posted November 18, 2018 It gets better pretty quickly. I’ll be six weeks out on Tuesday and can finally drink pretty normal drinks of liquids. Still working on getting more Protein though.
Geodude 66 Posted November 19, 2018 Yeah, it definitely seems to be improving every day. I'm 6 days out and, while I'm still drinking small drinks, it is totally different than days 1-3. Every now and then when I'm not paying attention, I take a normal sized drink and my sleeve lets me know it isn't done healing.
jessicab526 13 Posted November 23, 2018 I’m a little over 4 weeks out now and I don’t have any problems with fluids. The first 2-3 weeks were difficult but it does get better!
Frustr8 7,886 Posted November 24, 2018 Have anyone made their own Protein Shake with skim milk, Protein Powder and sugar free pudding? Seems that Just Might quiet my cravings for different tastes. Gotten so sick of endless vanilla. And yes Alex B as soon as my bank account restocks, so I can afford shipping costs, I will get more Bariatric Pal shakes, the Orange Creamsicle is so very good, I'm sure there are others equally good, as long as I stay away from the Cheesecake flavor. Just can't stand it,is any way, shape or form. Might as well have, what tastes good being,on prolonged liquids for SO VERY LoNG!
