rhodyram 4 Posted November 9, 2018 Hi all, I'm exactly a week out from ESG. All has gone fine with the exception of a pain that I've developed in my throat/chest when I swallow. The pain has been around for three days. It seems like an exaggerated form of heartburn. I started Zegerid (Omeprazole) about two hours ago. Will continue to take that and hope for the best. So far no relief. Has anyone experienced anything similar? As an aside, I'm down 8lbs the first week and my energy levels are ok despite being on clear fluids. I'm due to start soft food soon but I'm reluctant to do so with this pain. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted November 9, 2018 Congrats on your loss so far. Sounds like you're doing great. It will take a couple of days of the omeprazole before your acid-jets cool down. You might check with the Dr's office and see if you can take a liquid or chewable antacid until then to help cool your throat. In the meantime, avoid liquids that are higher in acid like lemonade. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
