Briswife15 890 Posted November 9, 2018 My team has me preparing for after bypass surgery by practicing taking small bites and chewing each one 30 times. I imagine this is because my new pouch won't be holding much food and it makes it easier to digest. My question is are we always going to have to chew food 30 times because the duodenum is bypassed thus decressing the digestion of food? Do you bypass folks who are months out tske normal nites, and chew normally? What is the effect in your digestion of having food ho straight to the jejunum. Sorry if I spelled that wrong!Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted November 9, 2018 LOL, I worried about this too. I take normal size bites, eat with normal size cutlery on saucers and in small bowls, and chew a normal amount of time...even dense Protein. I never get the foamies, or feel nauseated from eating too quickly or anything. I average about 20minutes per meal. But I have a cast Iron pouch. 2 sillykitty and Frustr8 reacted to this
