how long...how long...

Recommended Posts

:help:I work in route sales and am having surgery on 11/30/07.

I work in and out of the back of a truck with a dolly and was wondering if anybody has a job similar to this? If so, how long did you have to be off of work? Were you able to go back to full duty?

Thanks!

Kim

This may be of no use to you, Kim, since I work in an office--but when I went back to work, my weight limit was 10# for two weeks--and that was at almost three weeks post-op.

I was just permitted to return to Curves at 4 weeks post op, and I'll go back to the YMCA at 6 weeks post-op.

If you ask your surgeon, he should be able to tell you when--and it will probably depend on just what you are carrying on that dolly...

one thing I learned from my doctor at my 2 week meeting is that even after the skin heals, the muscle that they poke through is still healing. If you overdo - you can cause these holes to stretch and possibly cause hernias.

I was told the same no more than 10 lbs until at least 2 weeks, then more of 4 - 6 weeks for everything to fully heal and you're really back to full activity.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
