11 years and 1 month - 4cc Band and Still Going Stron

Recommended Posts

I would love to hear from others who still have their 4cc Lap Bands! :)

I have had great success with my band. I have gained some weight back, but that is without my band being completely filled the whole time. I started at 290lbs and got down to 150lbs and was very happy!!! I currently am at 200lbs which my doctor tells me is more successful than most, but I just got a fill yesterday with the hope of getting back down.

I am a compulsive overeater and have issues with food!!! I need help on a daily basis with my will to eat. If I know I cannot eat without throwing up, this is my "helper". I cannot stand the thought of throwing up so I am VERY careful to not overeat.

I would love to hear from other "Old Timers" with the Realize 4cc band.

I have had my lapband 91/2 years and it no longer helps. My weight is going up and I don't seem to be able to get that under control.

I am scheduled for a revision in Jan.

I've been banded for several years and have zero problems with the band and there are no foods I cannot eat, so long as chew properly. I've lost more weight than expected, and it is still coming off slowly. I have no regrets having the band. If it comes out, there are other options that I will explore. But, the band gave me my life back and it works for me. I've learned how to eat and how to control the quality of what foods I choose to eat.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
