I had the gastric sleeve done on October 16 and I have yet to get all my Protein in. I’m extremely nauseas and super discouraged because I can’t get my protein in. I’m struggling finding something that works for me.

Any suggestions ?!

I had good luck with mashed potato, refried Beans, oatmeal, pea Soup, poached fish, egg, and a lot of Protein Drinks.

In the early stages, I found that the toddler meat sticks were really gentle on my stomach. They're made with poultry and whey and are a good texture to move through and not get stuck.

Skim milk and greek yogurt worked. I especially liked the whipped yogurt...it was light and fluffy.

In the beginning, you do whatever you can tolerate. Your dietitian should have some great ideas.

The first few weeks you won't get near what they want you to get in. Just work more on getting your Water in so you don't get dehydrated. You'll build up tolerance as time goes on. Call your NUT to make sure but I'm sure they will tell you to do the best you can for now. That's how it was for me and what I've read a lot from others here. CONGRATS BTW and Best to you!!!!

Time.

Protein goals usually are worked up to incrementally over a certain period of time. A little more each day until you reach it.

My team wanted 60g daily (consistently) by 3 months post op. When in doubt contact your team for more clarity and instructions.

Safe Journey

Do not worry, like at all. Your are normal and it's ok. Rest, keep hydrated and heal. I promise you won't die from not hitting your goals, most do not. The point is to try to work to eventually hit those goals. They are high. If I'm serious about Protein it's literally all I'd have room for and that's kinda how I eat. I must have shakes or protein Water to hit the goals. To be honest there have been very few days I've hit the goal. Don't stress. Try protein water I'm a huge fan. Cheers. Rest and heal.

My team allows up to 6 meals per day to meet my Protein goals. I'm eating every 2.5 - 3 hours. I'm 10 weeks post op and can make my protein goals much easier by having many little meals. I'm slowly reducing total meals and increasing serving sizes, but 2 - 4 oz us all I can handle.
Take your time, find what works best for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
