Best places to eat out?

Recommended Posts

In 4 weeks when I’m able to eat real food again. Where do people like to eat out with friends? On the run?
What do you get?

What keeps within the required dieting?

Best places with sugar free options?

Best dinners? Lunches? Apps?

Best places for small portions?

And go....

Eating out that early can be tricky, I wouldn't suggest it because there are too many variables to consider

BUT

The best places are going to be the ones that let you customize your orders without a lot of hassle

I love eating out, and while it is tricky it is something I enjoy with friends so I made it a priority to try and make it work.

I love Mexican food and was looking forward to going out to eat and getting refried Beans. My surgeon said beans are great but restaurant beans are awful for hidden unhealthy ingredients. That being said

I went to place similar to Chipotle (but with better food, IMO) and for a burrito bowl. I got beans, no rice, chicken, cheese, cilantro, red onions, lime juice, and salsa. Flavor is incredible, but I do have about 6 potions to one order.

I went to a sushi place with a few friends and split the snow crab ramen. I had some of the broth, the egg yolk, and a few delicious pieces of the snow crab. My friend had broth with noodles and all of the other ramen fixings. Both of us were satisfied, and I had leftovers.

Wonton Soup from PF Chang’s. The carb count isn’t awful if you decide to eat the wonton, plus it’s just delicious. You can get a big bowl and have leftovers, or just get a cup and be satisfied.

I did the soup and sandwich option at a local place called Newks. I got the half chicken salad sandwich and cup of soup. Ate about half of the soup and the chicken salad part of the sandwich, not the bread.

Usually when I go out to eat, I focus on Protein heavy dishes like fajitas or sashimi. When I do order sushi, I ask for "easy rice" and I usually end up picking off most of the rice. Usually sushi with crab will be using imitation crab and it's higher in carbs so I usually stick with salmon. I've gone out for gyros and was able to order meat only.

We went out for Ethiopian food last night and I ordered a meat dish that was prepared with onions. I also had just a few lentils and some ground chickpeas but not much.

If I know where I'm going ahead of time, I try to look over the nutritional info ahead of time.

Went to Ihop the other night. Had the Southwest scramble. Ate about a third of it, and opted out of the toast/pancakes/tortillas.

Essentially, you get scrambled eggs with salsa and avacado and cheese.

You also get potatoes with peppers and onions.

I ate all the salsa and avacado and peppers....some of the eggs with cheese...and a few potatoes.

Was pretty good!

At my favorite steakhouse, I get a tenderloin steak kabob. it has steak, onion, mushroom, green pepper. I have it with a baked potato and side salad, and eat around half. Really good.

Sometimes I go to KFC and get a chicken breast and peel the skin off (130 calories) and eat it with a mashed potatoes and gravy (120 calories) and green Beans (25 calories).... 275 calories to eat at KFC.... 29 grams of Protein. Not a bad lunch on the go!

I like Burger King's Veggie Burger. Can only eat half, but it's delicious, and I have them put extra veggies on it. Only about 200 calories for half.

At McD's....the original egg mcmuffin is not a bad choice! 17 grams of protein, about 290 calories. Can't eat a whole one, but find what I can eat very satisfying.

Nearly any restaurant has a legal option if you look hard enough......but you have to be willing to look for them...and if the restaurant is a trigger for you, you might be better off avoiding it.

Gas stations always have packs of nuts, cheese sticks, and lots of them have hard boiled eggs.

At a nicer restaurant....pick a good protein, add a side or two, and just watch calories.

After a while, it's not hard. You figure out what works, and it's still really nice to go out.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
