8 to 5 odds he will, it would only benefit you to do so. Among my,other quirks I collect How Many Jokes
How many surgeon's does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer Only 1, but why don't we remove that socket? You're not using it and it will only cause you trouble in the future.
So my best guess: He will. My general surgeon -way back- removed my appendix along with the gall bladder that really needed the surgery!😷

I'm due for surgery on Dec 10th, can I request for the Dr to take out my gallbladder as well???

Why would you want to if you do not have to? I had to have mine out, but I would have rathered not to do it.

It seems like in the older WLS videos I watched, they would automatically take it out. I think there are better medicines now to prevent gallstones. I know rapid weight loss will cause stones unless you're medicated. I wonder if while they are poking around in there, they can tell if you have stones and then cut that thing out?

I had my Gastric bypass 7 weeks ago. Before the surgery they saw a lot of gallstones and like you I would eat and have to run to the bathroom. My surgeon said it was not that bad and we can remove it in about 6 months after the surgery. Fast forward last week I had a bad attack which was the pain in the right side that radiated to my back. I also had bad dry heaving and vomiting. I went to the ER and they said we have to take it out now. So please have a conversation with your primary and surgeon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
