Been stalking a few weeks ... figured I’d say hi!

Recommended Posts

Hi!! My name is Jessica. I’m new on here and have been stalking posts for a few weeks. Any question I’ve had so far I’ve been able to find an answer what an amazing help this app has been for me!
I had a lap band placed in June 2009 and subsequently removed in July 2016. I just had Gastric Bypass a few days ago on October 24th. After a couple pain filled restless nights in the hospital I was discharged on Friday afternoon and I am feeling much better now.
I am not in too much pain, some abdominal pain that is well controlled with meds, zero incision pain. I have pain when deep breathing though so I’ve been using the incentive spirometer like a champ!
I don’t feel hungry at all. Have no difficulty getting my liquid diet items down at all thankfully. I am definitely craving some carbs though!
Anyway so far so good for me, wanted to say hello and get to know you all. 🙃😉

Welcome, Jessica. I'm glad you broke out of your shell in order to join in. Now that you've crossed over to the other side, so to speak, you can be an inspiring source of information for others who are preparing to go through what you are currently experiencing. Pay forward by helping others. Not only does helping others feel good but, I believe, it truly helps each of us to be more triumphant with our own journeys. We've all started out by saying "hello". Now it's your turn to be a comfort to others in their time of need. While we all still need the wisdom and compassion of others from time to time, the best feeling is helping another person here get through their particular hardship.

Again, welcome. You have so much to offer!

They, like the military, are largely unsung, and do a very special job. Nursing is always patient-centered, medicine Is disease centered maybe that's why they are the Calico Cat and the Gingham Dog, they both want their patient to return to health, just 2 different philosophy,to Get There!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
